1970 Topps Sporting News All-Stars

I've been getting back into the hobby the last 5 years or so and collecting mostly vintage baseball cards. I've recently come across some of the Sporting News All Stars from the 1970 Topps set. I think they are sharp looking cards. After doing some basic research on eBay and the PSA population report, it appears that many of these cards are quite scarce and pricey in high grade.
Does anybody have any more information on these cards and especially why they seem to be so difficult to find in high grade. They are not considered to be high numbers, so why the spike in price?
In my latest psa submission, I was fortunate to score a Psa 8 #462 Hank Aaron and I'm having trouble determining value. I like the look of the sunset, so I'm determining whether or not to collect the whole set.
Any background info on these cards from the experts out there? Thanks
