I just saw it too. When I think Raiders, he is always one that came to mind. RIP Kenny.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

I absolutely hated everything about The Snake back in the 1970s, especially after the Holy F!@#$%* Roller image

Of course, I did grow up in San Diego, and I was (and still am) a die-hard Charger fan image

Having said that, I respected the Hell out of Stabler because he and the Raiders were a great team, and they did what they had to do to win. They just had the misfortune of having to go up against the Steel Curtain seemingly every year.

Oh, and in my opinion, it is an absolute Crime that The Snake is not in the Hall of Fame! imageimage

RIP Snake. As much as I hated your guts, and still do to a smaller extent today, I do miss that Charger - Raider Rivalry of the late 1970s.

RIP Snake thank you for the memories good and bad.
  • I got him 3 times TTM on his 1973 rookie, his 1980 topps, and his Greats of the Game card. He belongs in the Hall of Fame.
  • First thing my co=workers told me when I came in this morning. Sad day indeed and hopefully he'll make the Hall one day

It pains me to see that. As the Iggles sucked during that time frame and my father was from Baltimore, Bert Jones was my favorite.

We moved to Houston in 78, so I got to see his one year with "Luv You Blue". He really wasn't the "Snake" by that point. Too bad, also, as the Oilers could have gone far in the play-offs if they had a decent quarterback.

I am surprised he is not in the Hall.

My Ken Stabler story happened several years ago. I was at the Holiday Inn near the Oakland Airport (my aunt and uncle were celebrating their 50th Anniversary, and they hosted a party in one of the banquet rooms), and I went out into the lobby to take a break. Who do I see, but The Snake, on his way to his room. As it was, George Blanda had passed away that week, and a bunch of his teammates flew into town to honor him at the game on Sunday. I didn't have anything to get signed, so I snatched a business card off the bell captain's desk and and asked for an autograph. He couldn't have been nicer about it.
