Pedigree and upgrade

I just completed my Washington Quarter with Varieties set and my set is now rated #5 All-time and #2 current. (It still needs o be upgraded in my opinion to warrant being called one of the all-time finest).

Does anyone know the procedure for getting the set pedigreed?

I've been told that when it is pedigreed that for a nominal fee, I can ask PCGS to evaluate each coin for an upgrade. What's the procedure here?

Lastly, after the set has been pedigreed, will PCGS pedigree and coins I get upgrade in the future even if I fall out of my current loftly position?

I'm sorry I can't help you with the pedigree questions, however, I wanted to congratulate you on the set! That's one long, tough set you put together!image

    Congrats, Mansco.

Like Tom, I can't help with the pedegree question, but it's nice to see another quarter guy here. image
Mine is only in the "Basic" sets @ #19, so I know how hard a task you've completed.

I'm sure that a call to their office on Tues. would get your questions answered.

Again congrats, and good luck with your upgrades.

    Regards,

    Don

I sent my Dollar sets into PCGS for their free pedigree. Both sets were number 5 or better at the time.
They reslabbed all 130 coins, put my name on them all at no charge.
I paid 30.00 each for 25 of the 130 coins to try and upgrade them.
    It was pretty easy.
    Took about 2 weeks.

    Go for it !

I agree. Very easy to pedigree. Just fill out the PCGS and mark on the form that you are submitting to pedigree. They appear to look your items over carefully if you are submitting them for regrade at the same time. Bill Walser had good success with his SLHs.

    Mansco--

    Congratulations! Great set.
The pedigree is free. Regrades are $30 each. Since the set is so large I would only try for early dates and a few really execeptional later dates. Washington specialists are telling me upgrades are not be made very often currently. I don't think they will add additional coins if you fall below #5.

    Good luck.

    Mansco,

Congrats on building a great set! If you're going to be keeping your set for a long time, or have heirs that will be interested in it, go ahead and have it pedigreed. I currently have the #4 Washington with varieties set, need 2 coins to complete it, and like you, still intend to upgrade a few pieces. When I find them, I'm still not sure about having them pedigreed. If I break up the set, I don't know how buyers react to having someone else's name on relatively inexpensive coins. Personally, I'd prefer NOT to have a pedigreed 1964-D; there's enough clutter on the labels now. But it would be neat to pass a pedigreed set on to someone who would keep it intact.
