Traveling to Field of Dreams Movie Site; Where to Fly In? Stay?

My wife and I decided that we are headed to an event at the Field of Dreams movie site in Iowa in September and was just wondering from members that perhaps have been there before, where the best place is to fly into, are their plenty of choices of hotels within a hour or so, etc?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey,

I live about 30 minutes from the movie site (Dubuque, IA). I would recommend staying in Dubuque if you come to visit. While I think there is a hotel or two in Dyersville (where the movie site is), as far as other things to do and other hotel options, Dubuque has so much more to offer!! Also, a lot of the "city scenes" in the movie were shot in downtown Dubuque. There are a few hotels that I would recommend just because of where they are located. I'd recommend either the Hampton Inn or the Holiday Inn Express. Both get you to the main road out to Dyersville fairly quickly.

Unfortunately, our airport is fairly limited as we only have an incoming/outgoing flight to O'Hare airport daily (a few times each day, usually). Otherwise, I'd recommend flying into Waterloo which would give you about a 40/50 minute drive to the movie site.

Also, there is a sports collectibles show going on that weekend and my dad and I will be there, so if you had time to check that out, I'd encourage you to stop by and say hi.
