Another raw SLQ newp - 1929-S Obv Die Clash FS-401

I got this today and what a beauty, and it is my first one with a mintmark. It came in an antique yellow cardboard-bordered holder which is actually 3 layers. The price says 7.50. I wonder when UNC 29-S SLQs were worth 7.50? I gave several multiples of that for the coin. Anyway, feel free to wager a grade, as this will be going in next. Looks close to FH but no cigar.

Lots of clashing on this, you can see most of "E PLVURIBUS" through the skirt, and a big M. Oh and that whispy line on the RH side of the coin by the stars is a hair, but it was by far the best photo. I took her to Supercuts and we got it all sorted out.

Reverse die has had expansive polish/repairs made and is nearly PL. You can see where they scrubbed it everywhere, particularly above the eagle and liberty's shoulder.

Looks like a bit of a weaker strike around 7 o' clock, which was very common for Western minted coins from that era.

Other than tat, you have an outstanding SLQ with if not a FH, than doggone close.

Is that die polishing over Liberty's right shoulder under the B and on the reverse around AMERICA?

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

Yes, heavy, to remove evidence of the eagle's tailfeathers and the star on the obverse and basically the whole bottom of the obverse of the coin on the reverse.

I guess I could have done this for the reverse too. They aren't quite aligned 100% I think, but it is enough to get the idea.

Well there's got to be more than one, but that's got to be one of the more well preserved, I'd bet. Nice score (er die polish lines), and nice score ( of the "you suck" nature)

Cashed dies as seen here are pretty common on a 29-S.

NGC said MS-64 non FH on this which is what I had guessed. (was hoping for FH but the very bottom is a bit weak) The hit in the leg is just a bit too big for a 65. It certainly has 65 eye appeal and I think this one is a keeper.

I did, but apparently it was all for naught as they don't recognize this one in particular. I'm still a noob at submissions.

I would like to cross it over to PCGS to get the attribution on the holder.
