BusthalfBrian~ Yes,except it's immoral and illegal as it steals from Paypal for which you need NOT use if you trust people because you could always send them a check or a money order!

There have been multiple discussions on this topic. This is the BST board. If you wish to discuss the morals of paypal do it on another forum. Stop crapping on other people's posts.
the answer~ Illegal? ( yes! Illegal,it's called perjury,it's not a GIFT it's sale*..... in addendum to furtherance in pursuit of theft from Paypal, ignoring their fees for a service YOU choose to offer or use!) Since when did PP's rules or terms of service become law? ( Since you engage in using their services! It's called terms of privilege to use them) Also, if you bothered to read the post, checks or money orders were options too. An option to committing intentional fraud-nice! If paying for a product with a money order or check is a secondary option to stealing from Paypal after choosing if your own volition to use their services......the latter is irrelevant. And this subject may have been mentioned many times before but it's not an excuse for potentially violating it's privilege. I'm sorry guys but the law both matters and is above our terms of agreement if you take advantage of a product payment service YOU choose to use! It's really a silly thing to dispute. You use Paypal, you pay them their cost of service! That is the law!
Brew, there is this little thing called PayPal Friends and Family, commonly referred to as "PayPal gift" on this forum and others. One can send money to another party for free. That's right... FREE! Don't take my word for it. Look it up yourself. Then come back here and apologize to those you wrongly vilified and insulted. Maybe you should do some homework or fact checking before shooting off at the mouth.
Oh, I should have explained further that it is perfectly legal and is a free service (redundancy for effect) provided by a company you may have never used yourself. It's called PayPal...

Well,as an employee of Paypal in the legal department I'm just guessing I understand the nature and law of their business! I also think your reply is inane of course! But then the slang was your giveaway.

To Brew: I suspect your legal department frowns on employees making comments in a public forum without proper authorization .... You stand to take more heat for representing the company than a customer that has a potentially questionable gift transaction. Just sayin'.

Oh, in the event you have something to sell, I'm guessing you won't be accepting PP 'gift'/'Friends/Family' option???
Denoting the intent for improper use of a service company-"The heat". Amazing! Clarification: you cannot use Paypal for transaction of a sale without proper use."Gifting" money to others for coins is an illegal use of their service! Thank you.

Simply because every PP deal is not done to, with or by one's friend/s. I've done many transactions that have generated fees for PP. The deal in the OP was eventually consummated by check. >>
Good! Because otherwise you would have perjured yourself and immorally used PayPal's service and violated your terms! As noted!

BINGO! As per all of your agreements you entered with Paypal! It's amazing, getting mad at me for discussing proper business ethics and a contract many of you entered-voluntarily! But it's on my hands*** As someone put it! I'm not the one offering a service for free you are required to pay for however if you so choose to use! You cannot send money for product via "gifting"-period unless it is a "Gift". That is both clear in your agreement and obvious! Coin transactions*** are excluded from Gifts guys! .

OK, if it was consummated by check, why are you still spouting off about 'immoral' activity. It's over. Preach somewhere else. I'm pretty certain those that trust the other party enough to use 'gift', really don't care. I noticed your posting activity....nothing of substance, just a "That's a big coin-wow", or "Darn good post!", or things to that effect....a good portion of your posting is in BST threads. Do you hover over the BST and look for 'gifting ok' threads, so you can preach your 'perjury', and 'immorality' angle? And, I'm sure most EVERYONE here who has a PP account, has given PP their fair share of $$. You made your silly point, so stifle now. It's OUR choice to be 'immoral' if we wish!!!!! I'm done here, over and out.
