First PSA submission results. - Scans added with one 10.

I joined the PSA grading service a few weeks ago and sent in my first 15 cards to be graded. No cards went in without fairly strict magnifying glass checks. A few long shots went in with high hopes but doubts. While waiting, I opened up 3 new packs of 1980 Topps baseball cards. The best card from all 3 packs turned out to be the Henderson rookie. Excitement took over, and I was 50/50 that it would get a 9 or 10 grade. I sent it overnight, as a “same day” service, and fully insured. It came back as an 8. Oh well. Lesson learned on that one. Perhaps I need a better magnifying glass. image
Overall, I am very pleased and had a lot of fun. Next set of 15 cards was mailed yesterday. Couple of 1952’s in that batch.

Here are the results from the first 15, followed by a scan of the Henderson:

Congrats! Nice to see a 10 on your first sub and my two fav cards from that set in a 9. Well done image Too bad on the Hendu, though they are extra tough on that card it seems.

I'm sure your eyes are fine! It's T/B centering that's the issue, not the corners!

That is an excellent first sub (or any sub). A gem in a vintage set and mint HOFers are always welcome in any sub. Keep it up! Let's see some scans of the 75'simage

As the # 20 75 Topps registry set... I say very nice sub on the 75s! On the Henderson, T/B and snow in the black background got you the 8. The snow is the hardest part about grading the Henderson RC.

    Great job though!

Congrats on the WOOD. One sold last month for $135.00.

The Henderson, IMO, is graded accurately. T/B centering hurt that one and I think the top right corner has a slight touch.
    STAY HEALTHY!

Great first sub on the 1975's. To get a 10 and a few nines on the stars is great for a first sub or any sub. Post pictures when you get them back. I have a 60 card sub into PSA right now....all 1975. Hope my eyes were as good as yours image

  • Rose is also a nice hit. $150 card unless you get one of those fancy stickers that makes it $250

Congrats on that 40 yr old PSA 10!! And that's a nice looking Rickey RC too.

Nice sigline too. I've always wondered what exactly happened when Moose and Rocco caught up to Judge Smails.

Nice work. Especially on the 75s. Are those pack pulls?

General question: Are they as tough on the 75 Regs as they seem to be on the minis?

Wow, that's a hell of a sub, one that most of the vets here would be proud of. 75's are super tough! Well done, can't wait to see more scans. 3 mint HOFers, wow!

Thank you very much, and thanks to all for the congrats. The '75 set is really tough and I'm not sure why I'm so focused on it. I have about 10 more that didn't even make the first sub. Probably 8's at best according to those results. I tried to be as strict as possible.
I'm really looking forward to scanning the Rose and Bench. I can't remember how nice they were, but they'll look great in the PSA cases with "9's" on them.
I plan on catching a big "10" soon. I'll have to be much stricter than on that Henderson though.

So inspiring when I see people post their "10's".

  • You did much, much better than I did on my first submission. I let my emotion do the grading and not my eyes. Nice Job!

Very, Very nice first submission. You seem to have a very good eye. I would love to see scans of your "10" and your Rose and Bench.

Nice sub and thanks for sharing. Personally I would crack and resub that Henderson. I think on the right day it's a 9.

nice cards but I don't know if that wood should be a 10. I have a brutal time understanding centering on 75's but the top to bottom looks way off to me. would be interested what the 75 guys think

would be good to get the opinions because it would suck to send in 50 cards like that next time and get all 8's and be shaking your head that they all look like the 10

The Wood is centered slightly high T/B but within parameters for the grade and for this issue PSA prefers cards centered a bit higher vs cards centered a bit lower.

Whereas with '71s it's the exact opposite. I wonder why? Must just be an eye appeal judgment.
