How many 1916-d dimes still exist?

Not looking for arguments, just numbers. Figure out an attrition rate and pick a number.

Original mintage was 264,000. When the RedBook first appeared in 1946 a VF was priced at $15. Unc at $60. Clearly good reason to go find them.

Much of the varying logic (or lack of it) can be found in the thread below. I know survival rates for 19th century seated coins....it doesn't quite transfer over cleanly to the 20th century.

Between pcgs and ngc there are

    6,611 non fb at pcgs
    3,811 non fb at ngc
    371 fb at pcgs
    200 fb at ngc
    for a total of 10,993

Consider re submissions over the the years and the amount raw out there I would guess 11,000-15,000 is a really good guess (between 4-5% of the mintage)
may the fonz be with you...always...
