Ugh! Topps Redemption Question

I just opened 2 boxes of 2012 Topps Archives tonight. I have had these boxes for months but just decided to open them tonight. Already tried to redeem them online and showed expired. Is there any way possible to still get these?

imagine the condition of any they might have gotten on the secondary market for the promotion. Has there not been a thread here about the fact they often/sometimes reply they can't honor the redemption as offered ( none in stock ), but offer a substitute/alternative ?

I don't understand why redemptions expire since they are supposed to have that card and it is an advertised hit in the box.
For all my problems with Panini's products, they are the best at taking care of redemptions.
With the value of those hits, it may be worthwhile to file a small claims against Topps in CA. I don't know if there is case history on this topic in CA, but generally speaking CA consumer protections laws are very strong.
They should be aware that people buy boxes that will remain unopened. It helps their sales.
I would call and speak to a supervisor if the first person says they can't do anything.
Post a message on Twitter or Facebook to them if all else fails and public shame them.
Good luck man
<< <i>I called Topps customer service line this morning. First off, I know there is an expiration date, so I am SOL. I called to mainly state my case that I have been buying primarily Topps products for nearly forty years, that I am a loyal customer and since this was so close to the expiration (6 weeks) that maybe these cards were still available and they would make good to a loyal customer. Customer service would have none of that and repeatedly stated that it was company policy that they will not honor expired redemptions. I told them these were not common but fairly high value redemptions and if they could check to see if they are possibly still in inventory. He then gave me the company line again about expired redemptions. He was kind of being a jerk about it and starting to tick me off by the way he was talking to me. I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor and was told a supervisor will not get on the phone for something that is company policy. I asked several times to talk to a supervisor and he replied every time that a supervisor will not come to the phone for something that is company policy. Now I am really irked that I'm being spoken to and treated this way and I say that maybe I will contact the Better Business Bureau (not so much for the redemption, but for the way I was treated and for there refusal to let me talk to someone higher up). Needless to say, the call did not go the way I hoped. Just out of curiosity, I did go to the New York BBB site and looked up Topps...... WOW! They have hundreds of complaints. Most to do with redemptions. Most are people that have submitted on time and never received them. Topps does reply to some of the complaints. I just couldn't believe how many complaints have been filed. >>
Yikes...sorry to hear that. I don't think I'll be buying anything from Topps with even a remote chance of an expired redemption. This is far worse than my recent experience with Panini. We all did a group break of 2000 Contenders football, hoping to pull the monster Tom Brady RC. I pulled a redemption for a auto insert card with Tom Brady #'s out of 60. It sells for about $700 to $800 on ebay. Panini customer service ultimately offered me a box valued around $100 as a redemption because the card is long gone from stock.

<< <i>If you think about it, how can a redemption expire?? If they are putting these redemption cards in packs, you would assume they either have the cards or expect to have the cards very soon. You have to assume they have enough cards to cover all the redemptions issued. One would also assume they would hold onto these cards until all redemptions are redeemed. Sounds simple enough to me. >>
If they are sticker autographs, they would never have to apply them to the card and can use them on a different issue.

Very good point.
They made these cards and because they were redemptions they were allowed to do away with them because of a date. If the cards were in the boxes than boxes would hold their value and get what you paid for. That value has been passed to Topps because they moved the expired produced cards somewhere else. I am not sure if I am getting that across but Topps makes out and we get shafted.
Press Pass was the best. I had a expired redemption that was 10 years old and I got the card. They are out of business but not because of customer service.
Oh and Topps has to make a 40 Million dollar payment in October so they need every penny.

<< <i>I stated this before that we are to blame. By buying products with redemptions we allow the companies to do this to us. I don't buy Topps any more and if I do it's current blasters.

I came across this old thread by accident but the story linked above provide insight into what's going on at Topps. They have a $40 million payment due this fall. Before Topps went private their revenue was around $175 million, so that is a big nut to deliver for Topps. This explains how they have been outbid by Panini for the league and player licenses. Plus it looks like the owners want to sell the company off. I thought Upper Deck was the company in most financial trouble, but I think Topps may be right there with them.
I don't know what I'm going to do since Topps Chrome is still my favorite product despite the massive overproduction in 2014. I have a feeling 2015 Topps Chrome is going to be the mother of all print runs since it will be one of the their last football products. Maybe they will stick all those unredeemed sticker autos in the product!
<< <i>The short answer is No. I stopped buying boxes that are older than 3 years because of this. >>
Totally agree with this answer. I love opening up older boxes, but quit doing it with any modern stuff after pulling some great autograph cards that nobody would redeem. I'd take my chances with ripping a pack of 1975 Topps and striking out than a 2012 Topps Chrome Football box....the feeling of being gut-punched by pulling a Wilson or Luck redemption card makes me sick just thinking about it.
There's something just plain wrong with the whole thing.
