Ever slab a coin you found in circulation?

I did once, but it was totally dumb. A State quarter that was super worn.
Came back in a Genuine holder so really, not worth it.

Perhaps you have had more success?

Yep. 1994 DDR Lincoln cent. It graded MS63 RD at ANACS.

    Never slabbed a coin period.

But that streak will have to end soon because I have a four coin voucher that expires at the end of the year.

A bit of Japanese pocket change I had. Just for fun and no real logical reason, though I do wish I could be a fly on the wall when the coins crossed the grader's desk. I wonder what he/she thought I was thinking image.

I have also sent over one that I was sure was a counterfeit yen (I was right, but it was nice to see I was right) and now a few I'm sure will come back as 're-colored' or whatever the non-ANACS equivalent is. Plus a few trying to check my grading assessments. I mean, these are $5 coins at best. I wonder if they stand around the water cooler and make fun of these submissions??? They should.

    Yep.

Got a New Mexico State quarter in change that was missing the clad layer on the reverse. I slabbed it and sold it on eBay for $2k.

    1963-d 5c rpm #2 first reported. went anacs ms63.

taken right from my pocket. image

i share credit with the powers that be for that one though as i'm not a big pocket change searcher.

even stranger. i sent mine to james w. for confirmation and months later i was randomly searching ebay items ended merely for curiosity and saw a 63-d

rpm2 that james w. won. i think it was his first. irony? coincidence? destiny? who am i to judge?

Yes, the 1999 Wide A.M. Variety. It came back a NGC 64RB. As a matter of fact, it was the FIRST NGC graded for that Variety! Way back in 2000.image

I did. It was a Lincoln Memorial Cent. I forget the date but I got it in change and I was pretty shocked at the condition it was in for coming out of a register. I do remember it came
back from PCGS as MS68. It was possibly a late 90's date maybe. I sold it on eBay.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

    Nice coin! >>

    Nice, indeed!

Here's mine. Doesn't really count as "from circulation", since I didn't get it out of pocket change, but I did find it in a bulk bag of Wheat cents. (So figure it cost me a nickel instead of a penny.)
