Received this coin in a collection. I have no idea what it is.
Can anyone help please? Is it a tourist coin? or is it real?

    Roman Republic;

    L. Calpurnius Piso Frugi (90 BC). AR denarius, should be around 4 grams?

    With that cape, I'd have guessed Zoro or the Lone Ranger.

    Once upon a time, you could get low-end Roman Republican denarii out of the $20 pick bins at shows. (At least I did, back around 2006, at the FUN show. Not sure that's possible any longer.)

    But at least twenty bucks, and probably a tiny bit more than that. (Say $20-35?) It's fairly rough, but it's a Republican denarius from the first century BC, and silver, which is pretty neat.

    great, thank you.
    it nearly will pay for the small box of coins I bought a few days ago.
    Box included another silver chinese coin... pix to follow for ID.
    and a Canadian 1946 silver dollar, the actual reason I bought it for $ 45 CAN.
    thanks fellows.

    I think LordM is right on the money here, L. Piso Frugi is unfortunately the most common moneyer seen on roman republic denarii
