    An interesting piece. Is this German denomination "albus" similar to the French blanc, ie a billon coin?

    I have no idea about the origin of the name. However, this coin appears to be silver. The small spot of corrosion, on the obverse, near 12:00 position, suggests that we are not looking at .900 silver, though there does not appear to be any other corrosion on the coin.
