Are you selling stuff to raise cash for the National?

I'm heading to my first National this year. I started selling stuff last month to raise cash. I expect to have a pretty good size bankroll for buying.

I've been to the Sun Times shows at Rosemont and they were OK to buying. Is the National a good place to buy? I'm mainly looking for vintage football rookies and modern FB boxes to break.

Honestly no..but if you hunt long enough you can and most likely will find that treasure. Most importantly you get to meet other collectors from all age groups. Be sure and sign up for Net54 dinner and the PSA luncheon.

I'm trying to sell some unopened 80's stuff on craigslist (no bites yet) to raise money for michael Jordan stuff, but I won't be attending the national.

I have been to numerous Nationals and it can be hit or miss. If you are looking for high end cards you will find some, but you will also find prices to go along with them. Most dealers there also sell on Ebay, and they know the prices they want to get for items - if they don't get it there they hold on to it and sell it online. National is usually a great place to find non graded cards for sets, jersey cards, autos... High end stuff will command strong prices but if you are trying to find say a Mike Piazza auto card you can get them for a great price. The experience is awesome and I look forward to it every year just behind Christmas. Hope you enjoy it!
  • I never go to a National, since most of them are up north. But i so happen, won a free VIP preview pass or whatever it was from a N54 contest. Of course i gave it away to a good person that wanted to go. Hope you have fun Pete (if your out there) and Thanks to Leon for the contest(s)
Last year there a video someone tried to do, and i asked for folks to do it again. Basically for us folks that cant attend.
I was amazed by the video how huge it was. WOW! and tons of box break/boxes. Which i dont like. Put me in there with post-war RCs and some vintage goods.
Seems like i am doing the opposite, i been spending too much! I even considered parting with my football RC's to my brother, so i can stay on track with just baseball RC's.
Just picked up 2 Nolan Ryan RC's, one was a MiltonB.

    Collecting RC's (mostly 40-60's)

My main reason to go is the gawk factor. I do want to stop by the Leaf booth and talk to Brian Gray. I think the draft products Leaf has put out is among the most interesting and best values in the football card world. Unlike other sports, college is a big part of the hobby.

I'm not expecting any deals except on modern boxes. I wonder what Panini will do with all of the unsold football boxes they made this year.
