1980 rickey henderson psa 10 back down to 12?

can anyone w/ a 1980 rickey henderson psa 9 in their collection AND has it registered on the set registry, lemme know what the "pop higher" says from their inventory page?

this is what mine is reading now:

Cert Number 40010346
Spec No. 0101804820
Description 1980 TOPPS 482 RICKEY HENDERSON
Grade 9
Pop 1478
Pop Higher 12
Pop Lower 12680
Owner's Comments 1/15 - pop 1452, 13 higher
3/15 - pop 1468, 13 higher
Purchased Date 3/20/2015

notice it's back down to pop 12 HOWEVER,

if I run the cert on the verification page, still reads 13.

just trying to figure out what's going on here....

if it's really back down to 12, then i'm really behind the 8 ball.

only thing that even remotely makes sense is perhaps a crossover to a bgs 10 pristine and someone has turned in the cert for validity.

not sure the pop on a pristine, but vcp doesnt show any sales history...

so could make it very interesting when if / when it surfaces.

or could just be a bug.

any insight?

My PSA 9 also states a pop of 12 higher.

There are buggy blips in the pop reports all the time, which eventually correct.

  • If someone sends in a psa 10 for reholder into new holder psa in the process removes the card from pop then puts it back in. Serial # doesn't change but pop "temporarily" does before it returns. I experienced this with some low pop football I reholdered. Al

I believe this is the correct answer. I have been told some of the higher dollar cads that are being sold on the private market are being requested to be reholdered for authentication purposes.

The pop drops when cards are being reviewed as well but obviously that doesn't apply with 10's.

Same thing happens with reviews. Card is temporarily removed from the pop report and then added back (post-review) wherever the review
    ends up putting it.

Probably a standardized process for any card that comes in and is cracked from a holder, as reviewing a 10 wouldn't make much sense.

just weird it would effect the "inventory" pop and not the "cert verification" pop though....

Yes, although it would not be a very tactful move to have a PSA 10 Rickey RC reviewed. image

You mean $1300? That sounds exactly right, since 9s sell for a few hundred image

    I know, right? image

There are like 1500 9's and 13 10's....something about that discrepancy just isn't right...

Indeed, Todd. Very few cards from that time period are five digit cards; it's thus crystal clear that the system benefits from keeping that a rare grade.
