Does anyone else have as much bad luck with..

Canadian sellers as I do. I would guess at least 50% of the time they do NOT send the card pictured. In fact they usually send perhaps the worst example that they could possibly send.

Although only a minority of my eBay purchases over time have been with Canadian sellers, I have never had a problem.

Considering how expensive it is to ship cards from Canada to the US, that doesn't make sense that they would mess with potential returns. I think you just ran into a few bad sellers or your buying real low end stuff.

That's great. They usually will put a nice centered pic of an opc gretzky, messier, etc., and then send you the butchered opc one, that's so miscut you are missing letters from their name.

I have had this problem quite a bit. For me, though, this mostly happens with Quebec sellers.

+1, and none of my purchases were hockey. My biggest problem is typically packaging since they're trying to ship cheaply, lots of PWEs from Canada.
  • Shipping from Canada is a perpetual clown show. You either have guys who demand that every $10 card be sent Xpresspost @ $16+ or guys who send their stuff without tracking charge rates that are all over the map. I have regularly seen guys asking anywhere from $3 to $12 for untracked shipping. I get that Canada Post is different than USPS and Canadians don't have the same options people in the U.S. have ($3 tracked bubble mailers to anywhere in Canada - pretty amazing), but you'd think there would be some standardization.

There are problems with a good percentage of all eBay sellers. We aren't all bad.

Could the problem actually be ebay allowing sellers to use stock photos? I was looking at an early CFL Warren Moon card on ebay and the card pictured was very nice - better centering than the high majority of cards from that issue. There was no mention of it being a stock photo but I emailed seller just to make sure. Sure enough he told me that it was a stock photo and that the ones he had for sale were all off centered.

I see sellers who actually use stock photos for modern MEM and Autographed cards.

That's because most Canadian sellers and their local post offices don't realize that you can send 1 card in a top loader in a small bubble envelope with a $1.20 stamp on it to the US, same as what you would put on a PWE.

Same with sending 1 card in top loader in small bubble envelope within Canada. Most sellers think you have to put $1.80 postage on it and will argue me on this point till I finally get their address and send them a common card in a top loader and small bubble envelope with an 85 cent stamp on it.
