Probstein had a lot of 4 1984 Topps football cello boxes that ended tonight at $4151. That was a very strong price for these boxes considering they weren't BBCE wrapped. The last ones BBCE had sold for $775-800 each.

only thing i can think is that they are all from one source and none of the boxes are x-out boxes.
still a high price when other buy it now auctions are $900 each box.
<< <i>Rick must have changed his policy. He used not take wax consignments without bbce authentication. >>
He has sold many boxes without the BBCE wrap in the past, too.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
<< <i>I noticed both the sale of the 84 Cello lot and the 84 Rack Box as well. I agree that the buyer of the 84 rack box got a pretty good deal on it, while the 84 Cello boxes went for much more than what I thought market value was/is. The rack box looked to have some wear on it, but all in all I believe that rack boxes in all sports appear to be the best value in unopened at the moment. Based on the number of cards in each box (even without accounting for gum cards, wax cards, etc.) rack boxes seem to sell at a discount relative to wax and even cello boxes. >>
While racks usually hold better conditioned cards (at least corner/surface wise)... unfortunately I think they carry the most risk of being searched/sequenced. Especially wrapped boxes of racks... where you don't know who's showing and can't examine the packs for any evidence of thumbing through the cards.
