How do you store your unopened wax / cello boxes?

So I have some unopened wax and cello boxes taking up way too much room on my book shelves. I'm thinking of just putting them in some clear tub container things and just having them hang out in storage.

I mean, I like looking at the unopened boxes on the shelf whenever I want to, but they sure do take up a lot of real estate.

So, how do you store your unopened boxes? Storage tubs/bins? wrapped in bubble wrap in the storage containers? I guess it's more of a question of "how do you store it?" vs. "how do you display it".

If you use the storage container route....do you toss in a couple of those little silica packets to help keep the moisture under control?

  • Most of mine are shrink wrapped.
The boxes that aren't shrink wrapped are in a zip lock bag.
They are then put into either those Rubbermaid tubs and stacked and some I put into those white comic book boxes and stacked those boxes.
  • Shrink wrapped then bubble wrapped is the way to go. Depending on the kind of rubbermaid tubs you might use then I'd recommend packing peanuts to keep things snug.

Cool. Ya, most of mine are either factory sealed (1993 topps for example) or BBCE wrapped.

Looks like I will be making a trip to the store to get some rubbermaid containers and a bunch of bubble wrap.

Now I just need to remember to take lots of pictures before they go into storage so I at least have those to look at. haha.

I store my raw wax and cello packs in a team bag and a toploader and then place them upright in one of those plastic bait and spinner boxes which are a perfect fit for about 20-25 packs.

Love them! With the thinner Wacky pack unopened packs, one of these holds about 36 packs.

Have been struggling with storage of loose, raw packs and this looks like the answer. Have a link to the one that you use?

    Thanks,

Here it is, though not 100% sure this exact one is still made....

What is the green cabinet in this thread.... Store single cards in?
    Pics of drawers?

My answer isn't very flashy, but I store mine in a big box which is stored in a closet. But hopefully not for long as I'm trying to sell all my unopened stuff on Craigslist.

The drawers of this Bisley file cabinet are perfectly sized to hold two wax boxes. This way you don't have to stack them.

Whew! Last night I finished bubble wrapping all of my boxes that I plan on keeping. It was tough. I had a pile going....pick a box up...determine if Im going to rip it or keep it...then put it in the pile. A lot of second guessing, haha.

All wrapped up in bubble wrap and tucked away in a few rubbermaid containers now.

Kind of a shame to have them stored like that since I can't look at them all the time, but it will lower the chance of an "accidental box ripping spree" occurring by at least 90%

I feel ya on the storage method... my stuff is all similarly tucked away in boxes/tubs and put in a closet. I've yet to share most of it with my two boys (4 and 7) because I'm afraid they'll get the urge to rip something!! They already love ripping non-sport and my oldest has recently started with basketball cards... so I can only imagine their urge if they knew what was in some of those boxes!
  • i have a few expensive wax boxes that arent shrink wrapped or gai encapsulated.
i'm trying to convince myself the $$ is worth it for bbce shrink wrapping.

One thing about GAI graded packs is they are much easier to cut open, LOL!

That's great that you will preserve the boxes in their unopened state. But a shame that you don't get to enjoy them on display. I have 90% of my nonTopps collection in storage due to lack of space. Sadly I don't see an opportunity to get everything in one place for a long time. I have gotten creative though and now keep some unopened on hand at work in my office. I am fortunate to have a close colleague who enjoys collecting similar product and we actually do some rip sessions together in my office behind closed doors. I have a few unopened USPS boxes laying around that have 80s unopened stuff, but also have a small stockpile of some of my favorite issues in an overhead cabinet.
