<< <i>Does the Venezuelan have a crease or wrinkle? That is the nicest looking PSA 2 I have ever seen. >>
Venezuelans almost always have paper loss on back from being glued into albums. I believe if a card has paper loss it can't grade higher than a 2. There are a lot of high eye appeal vintage 2's because of paper loss.

Thanks for sharing.
collecting RAW Topps baseball cards 1952 Highs to 1972. looking for collector grade (somewhere between psa 4-7 condition). let me know what you have, I'll take it, I want to finish sets, I must have something you can use for trade.
looking for Topps 71-72 hi's-62-53-54-55-59, I have these sets started
<< <i>ironically enough, it does not have any creases or even paper loss. it does have a stain and marks, but still scratching the head as to a 2 as well. they originally tried to tell me it was n6. had to call in, request a hold, tell them that the Venezuelans are significantly smaller than the topps predecessors, wait another few days, then it popped at a 2, sat for a few days, had to call in make sure it shipped, yada, yada, yada. at this point I just said fine because I wanted her back in my hands....but back to your question. no, zero paperloss which just about all of them have. I much prefer the mark and tape stain. and I praise the smart lil kid that used the tape vs glue in the album!!!!

I'm surprised it didn't get a (MK) qualifier with the writing on the back. Still a SWEET collection!

+1, but it looks like it could grade a 4(MK), so perhaps it was a no qualifier? Love the rookie run, except that darn newspaper clipping, but understand why you'd pick it up as well.

I'd rather have a straight 2 than a 4(MK). I can't stand qualifiers.

full disclosure on the venezeulan: there is one on ebay listed for $8K. (entirely way too much if ya ask me)
it's fn tough, first of all. i have another one w/ 80% paper loss on the back, creased as hell and just an all around beater.
as for characteristics:
size: it's about an 1/8 of inch shorter than the regular topps version.
paper stock: poor and dirty looking
print quality: no where near as nice.
centering: ironically enough, and I've only seen 3 in person, centering is usually quite good.
dreaded paper loss: they made a sticker album for them to be glued in vs us using our boxes, so just about every version has some sort of paper loss. (which makes me love this one even more)
but back to it's rarity and the hunt. as stated i found my beater fairly early and easily. actually had it before i found an opc version. this would be the 2nd hardest to locate in my opinion. i scoured and found some blog from 5 years ago about a guy that claimed he had one. it took me a solid year of working on him to sell it to me the 1st time. sent him $2500 via paypal and a fedex label. waited a week and it never showed. the guy just couldn't let go...and i get that. we swapped words (good words) and continued to stay in touch. we'd shoot emails every once in a while about the aquesos test and other ryan rarities and oddball, ie houston show set (another extreme rarity) and finally cinco de mayo rolled around. had a few margaritas and considering the card and day i shot him a message saying: $3K all in. well he officially said yes again. of course i sent him the money again and another fedex label. he said he'd need another week to get it out. (guy lives in bfe wisconsin). no fedex pick ups and about an hour to the nearest hub. anyways, it was a long week. is it gonna happen, is it not? am i gonna get another paypal notice that my money has been refunded. i mean i checked the label status 10 times an hour all week. well finally about 8 days later, the label showed status. the next morning, 8:43pm i had a knock on the door. this is it! finally!!!! a version i can be happy to display.
the cherry on top:
after a few days of enjoyment, i sent it off to psa. 5 day status. naturally, this would be set registry season so everything is basically nuts at psa. quite understandable. i hadn't submitted in a while, so i hadn't realized how bad the log in turnaround time was. well not too bad, but after waiting about 2 years to finally get, an hour was too long for me. anyways, sent overnight for delivery on 5/15. didn't get logged til 5/21. clearly marked 5 day turnaround. i mean, stevie wonder couldn't have missed that it was marked 5 day! ; ) so, after 5 days and wearing out the refresh button, it pops. the dreaded n6. i mean, really? of course it's smaller. it's supposed to be. if you ever come across a veni that is the same size as the regular topps version, make sure you still have your wallet and run!
so i make a very polite phone call. "hey guys, i know ya got alotta folks freaking out trying to get things popped and logged to make it for the registry deadline, but i think ya mighta made a small mistake on my Venezuelan. i measured the card, it's right. do you mind taking a second look and maybe a more informed decision?" she said sure!
so another 3 days of constantly hitting refresh. i now have callouses. i mighta even made the site crash on 6/2. well it pops w/ a straight 2. hell, i'll take it. i did request no qualifiers and with the significant marks on the back, i was fully expecting a (mk) or (st) qualifier. i don't like qualifiers at all. I'd rather use my own eye, then automatically be told on the flip. ...so i anxiously wait for that knock on the door on 6/3. im like a lil kid. my fedex lady knows me well and once 10:30am hit, i knew something was up. so log on and see that it didn't ship? wtf!?!?!. well i guess since i requested the hold and second look, i have to also request the release. so i finally cleared that up..."just get her out guys, i don't care what i have to do, sign over 1st born or what but just get her out". after all the above, i certainly didn't want to have to wait another weekend. well they follow thru to a tee and she arrived this am at 9:32am.
mighta been a lil more info than what you were looking for matty, but now that she's here and the proverbial rollercoaster ride is over, i wouldn't have changed a thing. from the 2+ years of working w/ the guy, to psa overlooks, to shipping mishaps, it was all part of the ride. i can now, proudly, hang up my ryan rookie card hat on the rack and just lay back and smile...
if anyone ends up starting the hunt, i wish you as many pot holes and bumps in the road as i have had. it truly makes it all worth it in the end.
thanks for reading !
The N6 is really hysterical. Once again, The Collector trumps the TPG system.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Those Vens are no joke tough!

what version is this...perhaps a proof? I do have a full proof sheet w/ a blank back. I have been contemplating on whether or not I should cut it and send it in to sgc ( I know psa wont grade it). the sheet does have hank aaron on it as well, but really at a cross roads. been hoping to find another one that's already been cut, but....
