Wheretheyaint.com

Hello everyone. 3 times in the past week, I've received e-mails from a John at www.Wheretheyaint.com asking if I "needed anything". One e-mail asked how my collection was going, and like I said, this last one this morning asked what I was looking for. Anyone know who this guy is? Is he a trustworthy dealer? I've never dealt with him before so didn't know how he knew I was a collector, or what have you. Thanks for any insight.

RUN...name says it all...wheretheyaint.....he gets your want list then shops various sites and tries to flip to you for a substantial amount. Do a search on this board or Net54.

surfaced outta nowhere about 3 years ago on me as well. finally asked him to quit emailing as the pricing bordered from hysterical to absurd.

Their facebook page has 8 likes. So they've got that going for them.

About two years ago I listed about 50 or so graded cards on this message board. About a month or two later I received and email asking if I had the cards still available. Thy were not big dollar cards or anything, but he / they wanted to buy them from me as a lot....................at a big discount. I thought about it for a while then declined as I too was unsure about his emails coming out of the blue. However, he was willing to meet me in person with cash at his office.

  • When he or they first started on eBay, you could look at all of his or their graded cards and all would have flip serial number whited out. If you searched eBay for that same card, you would always find the exact card at a significantly lower price. Once you purchased his or theirs, he or they would just buy the other one and give you an excuse for the delayed shipping.

They cleared up what could have been a big problem with a card I bought off of them...similiar experience, but in the end they did the right thing.

Basically, from archived threads as well as what I've read today, they e-mail you rather abruptly asking if you need anything, you tell them what you need, they buy it and flip it to you for a higher price. Unless they have other connections besides eBay, BBCE, auction houses, 4SC etc, what would be the purpose of them? If I'm really looking for a certain card or set, I would know enough to look at all the above avenues already anyway. Like I said, this is assuming they don't have a super secret stash of top secret cards. It was also how they e-mailed me that took me aback a little bit. They came across like I've dealt with them hundreds of times and that we've had beers together. Just found it all odd. Thanks again guys.

i believe they also scour the psa registry sets for guys with email addys linked. ironically enough, i told him/them i was always looking for high grade ryan rookie cards. about an hour later "someone" actually messaged me about one card i already had and if I'd be willing to sell it for xxxx. pretty comical.

Has anyone sold to wheretheyaint? I actually got a decent offer from them for one of my sets. I do not have as much interest in finishing the set and I have not added to it in a while. I just have concerns of selling to them after what I have read on here and Net54.

In addition to wheretheyain't, I've received similar emails from sportscardsforever. I am assuming they have a similar business model, if they are not also the same person.
