Poll - What is the minimum coin value do you think is worth to sending to CAC?

Considering the stickering cost and any increase in value to a buyer, what minimum value do you think is work sending to CAC?

So if you have a $150 coin PCGS XF45 and you get a green CAC, does that make it worth more than a non-sticker coin over what it cost to get the sticker?

Sometimes it depends more on the spread to the next grade than the value of the current holder.

Spread between grades is the key

I did not vote mainly because I see the determining factor as a spread issue that extends beyond a dollar value.

I rephrased the question better. What is the minimum value for a coin that you think is worth sending to CAC?

Just sent one for a customer that's 250 bucks, and its the only coin on subm, he is paying the to and from postage.

Sometimes, there is value in liquidity....

So, if you are one who sells, or plans to sell soon, there may be value in having the sticker as it may sell faster, for the same price even...or more....with the sticker.

Probably around $500 - $1000 as in looking over certain ads in NN this seems to be the cutoff. The ones that sticker I would probably add a 10-15% tackon. I can see sending them in no matter what value an ego thing for certain collectors but this is not what drives me.

It does make me nervous sending big ticket stuff like that thru the mail......

The sticker is just their opinion, and at a point in time. If the coin is something I consider a dog anyhow so what if its stickered or what if the coin goes bad in holder down the line? Be sure and carefully look at the coin and decide if you like it based on your preferences vs whether it has their sticker or not.

I've sent $50 coins and up to $750. To me it's about whether the coin deserves a bean.

If you have slabbed a $50 coin you are already buried , why reach for a shovel?

How can a $50 coin"deserve" a bean? Coins are inanimate objects , they don't deserve anything.

I can't see sending in a $50 coin to get stickered unless it is free. I mean, what is the financial upside? I suppose one could be trying to assemble an all-CAC collection but that means you are basically collecting stickers and/or have completely abdicated any decision making over the quality of the coins.
i completely understood getting the sticker for resale or using it as a check when you can't see the coin in person but I don't know why people submit coins they already own and aren't planning to sell.

If you buy a coin you like (no matter the cost) send it in and it doesn't get the sticker, what do you do with it?

For the question at hand I answered $300 as I can see getting a 5% boost for the CAC coin on resale (and that would cover the cost of submission).

was discussing this with another capped bust half dime collector who also collects other stuff and does a little bit coin-dealering on the side, among other professional numismatist pursuits. He said he only sends in mint state capped bust half dimes, feels the expense of the CAC process is worth it at grades 61 and up. Made sense to me

Me, too. CAC is inexpensive, and (for whatever reason) increases the demand substantially if you're trying to sell.

I would much rather have my MS67 coin in a 67 holder than in a 66 holder with a gold sticker!

I have always thought my money was better spent by having another 1 or 2 raw coins certified by PCGS

$5,000 coin minimum~I never will send one in. The coins I buy with them I would have bought anyway. If the sticker really added value your dealing with newbies~jmo

It does protect the new buyer some but I have seen a lot of wasted money on coins that would never be worth more than the TPG grade.

Learn your series and learn to grade.image Great marketing ploy that sticker is way cheaper than a plastic holder. At the very least they could do is bar code them.

    I voted $1000. But if I can make a buck off a buck, I'll take a buck.
