Anyone else enamored with the new PSA HOLO-Flips?

i will not fib, initially i did not care for them when they were announced.

Now that i own one, WOW was i wrong!

There is something REALLY nice feeling/looking with the new(ish) slab & holo-flip combination, and I'm really looking forward to owning more in the future.

they are slowly growing on me, but still not sold.

am glad to see they are trying to keep up w the scammers and trying to thwart the process of placing a fake flip over a legit one...ie the light test.

Is the slab different or just the flip??
  • Just the flip. Slab has not been changed since the last iteration. I also like them.
  • I'm sorry if this has been covered here before I came on board this forum, but is anyone else having problems with small fish eyes in the plastic on the newer style holders? I never had this issue with my older PSA slabs and was just wondering if anyone else has observed this on the newer holders? Or maybe I got some from a bad batch? It's hard to explain, but they are like small pin hole sized fish eyes in the molded plastic that catches the light if you turn the slab just right. At first, it looks like the surface of your card has a dimple in it, but upon closer inspection, they are small pin hole or fish eye defects in the plastic. I love the new holders that I believe are more secure from fraudsters(thank you PSA). I just don't feel the plastic is of the same quality as the old ones(I could be wrong). If anyone has any input, I sure would welcome it. Thank you.

I understand the need and appreciate the effort to protect collectors' wallets but I'm not a fan of the way the holograms look. I'd prefer them on the back honestly. The PSA flips have always been clean. Nothing fancy. The holder was still about the card. I feel like the hologram kind of leans towards BGS way of doing things. Too much attention is paid to the flip rather than the card.

I just like the non-holo flips more.

I'll be getting a bunch shortly and will let you know my take...At the end of the day, I love displaying my PSA cards, and love consistency...therefore will have some reviews and reholders as well.

I don't have one in hand yet. They look pretty cool and I look forward to seeing them. On a side question, does anyone know if PSA reholders on site at shows they attend?

Love the new holder. The hologram on the flip is a bit distracting, especially since 99% of my collection does not have one. My OCD goes crazy when 131/132 1986 Fleer Basketball Set is the old flip, and Spud Webb has the new flip!!!

Overall I like them, but the hologram is a bit distracting. My eyes are naturally attracted to the hologram when it's reflecting light. I do seem to be adjusting and getting used to it. Maybe after some time I won't even notice it.

    The old holder is better.

Old holders are easier to tamper with. New holders are more secure and sturdier, too.

Regarding the hologram, I would prefer to see it on back of the flip instead of the front.

I just acquired two recently my first. I'll have to wait until I get home from the field to see them and form an opinion on the holo-flips. TBD.

I am just wondering how this makes it more secure? Is it on the paper flip or the plastic? Still trying
to figure out how this prevents phony flips or PSA cards?

    jack straw from witchita,

hologram on the front prevents a fake "front" flip from being inserted over a legit back, for now.

look up that fake montana thread and the light test.
