Can we compare this 1847 Crown:

Now the person in the Craigslist ad does answer the phone and does sound like a Texan but is adamant they got these 2 coins many years ago and do act genuinely baffled by the existence of the coin on Ebay?

The fact the 'seller' on Ebay claimed to be from Texas as well is oddly damning.


What do you think? Same seller OR just 2 mass produced Chinese fakes that look identical?

Would not go near those. They appear to be the same coin. The "clueless about coins" act is presumably with the intention of scamming. Perhaps the eBay seller sold his coin locally to this poor sap, who is now trying to get rid of it.

Same guy. Same coin. Almost certainly a forgery, especially when looking at seller's whopping feed back of -1.
