Beckett versus PSA on the recent auto cards..

I did a little research (just a little) on some of the newer auto cards. It appears if the auto will get a 10 (or looks like a 10) Beckett is the choice. If the auto is shaky (or appears to be less than a 10) PSA seems to prevail more often. Any thoughts on this. Obviously I am speaking in general terms.

Which would you rather have a 2012 Contenders Luck PSA 9 or Beckett 9 with a 10 Auto?

In general Beckett has cemented itself as the the most popular for modern autos, especially chrome. In most instances a BGS 9.5-10 will out hammer a PSA 10 and a BGS 10-10 will add another 30%-50%. Black label you can almost double the value. Part of this is because BGS is more popular with modern collectors, but another part is that PSA is sometimes more lenient on the actual auto. It's possible, and occurs fairly often, that 9.5-9 slides into a PSA 10 slab.

To me, however, a 9-10 and a PSA 10 are a wash and I'd take the PSA 9 as the BGS Silver/gold combo just looks off to me.

All things being equal with the two cards, whichever one is cheaper. If/when you're looking to resell, get it slabbed in whatever will get you more money at that time.
