What does PSA Authentic grade mean?

If a card is slabbed "Authentic" by PSA, does that also mean it is unaltered? I'm looking at an "Authentic" card on eBay but don't want it if it has been altered.

I know Beckett will mark a card as Altered. What about SGC?

The "Authentic" label means that the item, in our opinion, is real but nothing more.

From the PSA page on grading.

SGC will mark an altered card as "Authentic" and that's it.

Thanks. I guess that means it can be an altered or trimmed card.

If card has been altered, PSA will note it.
