Rev: Dea Caelestis seated facing, head turned right, holding thunderbolt and scepter on lion galloping right over rushing waters. RIC IV 130a; BMCRE 280; RSC 97. Sol standing facing, head left, nude but for chlamys, raising right arm in salutation, holding whip in left hand. RIC IV 293e; RSC 390; BMCRE 192-3. Superb detail and style. Rev: Two soldiers each holding spear and shield, standing to front, heads turned inward, one fixed signum between, Chi-Rho on vexillum.. RIC VII 96. Sharp portrait, lovely patina and eye appeal. Kingdom of Macedon. Alexander III, the Great, 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm (31mm, 16.99gr) minted posthumously at Odessos, c. 125-70 BC. Obv: Head right of Herakles, wearing lion's skin headdress.
