In stark contrast to the more commonly found 1864 two-cent piece, the 1870 is a decidedly tougher nut to crack. This was the first issue of the series to fall below the one million mintage mark and the series would wrap up the business strike issues just two years later. Anything finer than MS65RB is prohibitively difficult to obtain for this issue and even in gem there are little more than two dozen coins graded, which makes the current market price for this coin seem like a bargain. $1,750.00
