Constantius I. A.D. 305-306. AR Argenteus, 19mm, 3.57gr. Serdica. Obv: Laureate head of Constantius I right. Rev: Camp gate with three turrets; ·SM·SD(Delta)·. RIC 11a; G. Gautier, "Le monnayage d'argent de Serdica après la réforme de Dioclétien," RN XXXIII (1991), 25; RSC 304A. Rare issue struck after Constantius I became senior emperor. NGC Ch. MS 5/5, 5/5.

This is a nice sharp coin which I ran across which seems to be scarcer than other type for Contantius.

That is a stunner and Constantius I is one of the more interesting figures of the early Fourth Century to me.

    Superb addition to your collection.

Uhh, that coin is so nice, I would not want the Bulgarian authorities to know about it.

  • such a great coin, he was Augstus for a very brief period, and an argenetus of anyone during this period is an accomplishment and here we have one with no wear fully struck on an oversize flan

    I absolutely love it! image

That's a very impressive coin, Z, both for condition and general rarity.

Great stuff for sure, silvers of this time are tough to get, even more in that shape.

Another beauty in the never ending parade of classical ancient designs. Good eye and nice addition. image
