A little help with coin identification

A co-worker of mine asked me if I could help her identify a couple coins her mother gave her. Her mom is from Scotland originally, and this coin has some features that look British. It is pretty corroded though, so I thought I might ask more knowledgeable eyes then mine for a look. I can take more pics if needed. TIA.

It's from Ireland. 1689 "Gun Money" halfcrown from the Civil War.

It's called "Gun Money" because it was made from melted down cannons.

In part at least, church bells, and other sources of metal were also used. However "gun money" has a better ring to it than "bell money" or "hey, I found this bit of brass money" so the term stuck and the numismatic lexicon is richer for it.
