PSA 6 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle...really a $50k+ Card?

I saw some recent auction results for the grade on this card at $50k+. Are these legit sales or is this just people bidding high and failing to pay in order to drive up "realized prices" or other motives? Just curious on the opinions from those 52 mantle experts on the forum. Note: I am more of a modern player in the card collecting world (i.e. michael jordan); I do not know much about post-war vintage stuff. I did find the below linked article that was quite interesting based on the last paragraphs soft predictions/recommendations.

Yes, it really is now. I know one of the PSA 6 owners is here on this very board and paid over 50k. Two amazing 4.5s sold for 35k-ish as well. 3s are now consistently 15kish.
The flagship card of the hobby----- alongside the Honus and the Babe Ruth Rookie----- is always climbing.

Ah, that 2012 article linked above sure makes me wish for a TIME MACHINE!!!!!!!
