Info on French Royal Coinage

I've taken a fancy to this era when I recently started collecting US colonial and since many of the French coins circulated in New France, it wasn't too far away from US colonial.

However there's only the NGC World guide that I've use for value but I've picked up a couple of obscure transitional coins (one recently at Heritage, 1659-Y 1/2 ecu) that has no listing and haven't found any info on the net.

Any suggestions on a more detail info source without breaking the bank?
