What is the deal with 1966 #591 NL Rookie Stars (Jackson)?

I just bought a large collection of cards and within was a box of off grade mainly commons from the late 50's through the mid 60's. After looking through to pull out any cards of any value, I found a mid grade Grant Jackson/Bart Shirley NL Rookie stars #591 from the 1966 Topps set. I know the card is a SP, but so are several other cards in the last series. why does this particular command such a good price $150+ for mid grade examples? I was stunned to see what this card sells for in PSA 4 -6.

Finally got lucky on a large purchase as I actually found 3 of these cards out of a total of 90 cards from the complete set image

any information on this card is greatly appreciated, Tom

The card is a major stumbling block for collectors of the '66 set. Card #544 is another elusive card that usually sells for much more than other high number commons from the set. Both are SP's, and I don't know where they were located on the sheet, but it may be that they were on the bottom edge, or somewhere else that made off center cuts common.

Sadly for me, it is another Dodger locked on a card that is valued for much more than it is worth to me to add it just to help complete a team set. It reminds mew of the 64 Flood, but you can find that card for an affordable price long before a Shirley card. I have the 73 Cey, but the 63 McMullen is the king of expensive common Dodger cards.
I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.

When I was working on my Dodger team set run of 1958-1990, the Jackson/Shirley card was the absolute last card I needed to complete the run. It took me several years to find one. Even at major card shows, the dealers who sold raw "commons", never had the card. It cost me $80 about five years ago for a raw one, that would probably grade a 6-7.

that would probably grade a 6-7.

That's a pretty nice profit if it could grade 6 or 7.
