Begin with Postmaster. They WILL help.

I had a pkg of silver dollars lost and they were insured but the PO said they would need PROOF of the cost of EACH of the 1200 coins.
I explained how a coin shop worked but they got adamant.

Another call to my House Representative cured the problem immediately. >>

This stuff cracks me up. How does this story apply to the $150 package above and his problem? 1200 Silver dollars? Call Congress? image

Last week I had a package that showed delivered and it was no where to be found. I looked all around the house and down by the gate. Of course I figured this out at 10 pm and was thinking the worst. It showed delivered and it was not insured, a trip to the post office at 9 am solved the problem. The postman was about to put it by the gate and it started raining hard so he took it back to the post office. He had already scanned it delivered.

It always sounds like they scan what they plan to deliver, they take a shortcut instead of scanning as they deliver.

The system doesn't really work because scanning a package then delivering it someplace doesn't mean it was delivered to the right place.
It would work if they put a barcode on each mailbox or PO box door and had to scan that and the package to show that a given package was delivered to a given address.
I've always thought that they need to improve quality and reduce cost by delivering 4 days a week instead of 6 days a week.

<< <i>I bought a coin for $150 on ebay, and I never got the package. The problem is that USPS marked it as "Delivered", but they admitted to me that they had lost the package. They told me they marked it as "Delivered" because I also had a different package get delivered the same day, and they made a technical error that said both packages were delivered. (Something like that, the lady was having a very hard time explaining the weird situation to me).

I opened a case on ebay (The seller didn't do anything wrong, but it needs to be the seller who takes responsibility for the USPS problem, not the buyer). He didn't insure the package, but he can be the one who tries to file a claim again the USPS or whatever he wants to do. The seller won't budge on refunding me, so ebay is going to get involved sometime soon.

I asked the post office to change the tracking info to say something else other than "Delivered" because it was never delivered. The lady said she didn't know how, but would figure it out.... but as of now it still says "Delivered". I'm going to call back today and try to find someone working there who knows how to change the tracking info.

I've had a terribly unlucky last week, and this situation was the least stressful out of my other problems. I don't feel my luck will be changing this week, so I'll be surprised if I don't take a loss on this one. >>

Once you feel you've spent enough time and energy on this and it seems you aren't getting anywhere, file a chargeback with your CC company on the item in question. They have no interest in hassling with eBay crapola and should make you whole.

I escalated the case yesterday to have ebay step in and make a decision... and I lost the case. But then I appealed the case and won, and was refunded. When I appealed it, ebay told me I had to fill out a complaint at the "internet crime complaint center" (Sounded a little extreme to me, but I filled it out). It took a couple hours to fill out because I made sure everything was accurate and whatnot. I called back ebay and told them the claim # for the complaint, and then some lady reviewed my case. She actually read the ebay messages of the case and could tell that I wasn't making it up.

I think ebay took the loss on it because she told me it was "one time courtesy" and that they would refund me. Just glad I don't have to deal with the whole thing anymore. Also, I don't have a CC so filing a chargeback wasn't an option for me, so if I lost the appeal it would have been a long road to get my money back after that.

I voted "I have no idea". Looks like you were made whole and the value of ebay common stock didn't change much , either.

Unfortunately, ebay will provide the CC company with the "proof of delivery" and the CC company will deny the claim. CC chargebacks are not automatic, they have to be supported by the evidence or lack of it.
