Not a coincidence...
Currently collecting 1934 Butterfinger, 1969 Nabisco, 1991 Topps Desert Shield (in PSA 9 or 10), and 1990 Donruss Learning Series (in PSA 10).

Yep.
Such a high volume seller could easily afford a scanner that provides great detail. Low-res scans hide flaws in the card that might drive away bidders. It works to their advantage to have crappy scans.

In the world of 61Fs, this one is nicely centered.
Hard to believe it's that kind of dough? Wow.
I agree with 4SC - they could do a better job with the scans.
<< <i>Why is the magnifying glass not standard on every ebay auction? >>
My guess is that it has to do with the volume they are scanning. When you scan that many items the quality will go down. I don't know where, since I'm obviously not involved in their scanning process, but if they're using a large bed scanner and cropping the images individually this could cause it. Also if they're exporting it from one file or program to another it could cause degradation of the quality of the scan. It definitely doesn't have anything to do with them "just being lazy" as a lot of people have said elsewhere, not in this thread.
Poor quality scans will not get the magnifying option on eBay listings.

I would disagree. I have passed on many of their cards because I couldn't tell what I was looking at from the scans.
<< <i>Is the price realistic? >>
I once sold a 9 of this card for $1350 BIN, but that was like 8-9 years ago.
I think 9's now sell for $1700-2000 range.
This 10 has great centering for the issue but without a super sized scan I certainly wouldn't spend that kind of money on this card, but
if the right buyer came along, they might pull the trigger on it just because of that '10' number
in the corner of the slab.

PWCC has high quality scans .......... How are they doing it?

No idea, but PWCC has a great setup. It is a bit different scenario than 4SC for three reasons 1) PWCC deals with other people's merchandise and not their own. For instance, if I were selling something for someone I would put that little bit TLC into listing. 2) the more the item brings in for PWCC the more they will make plus attract consignors. 3) Even though PWCC is huge, they don't have near the inventory of 4SC. For these reasons it is imperative that a business like PWCC provide quality scans to potential customers.

Huh? They can certainly use high-res scans (and back scans) if they want to. They choose not to. Scan quality does not go down with high volume.

It's an equipment issue. I am not aware of how 4SC obtains scans. They may own the equipment or outsource. Whatever process they are using destroys the quality of the scan enough that the zoom feature doesn't work on eBay.
If I had to make a guess, I would say that the images are being scanned on a large bed scanner and then saved on a flash or uploaded into a filesave account and then cropped and then resaved before being added to the listing. Basically, each step destroys the image little by little.
<< <i>2) the more the item brings in for PWCC the more they will make >>
I'm pretty sure this is true of all businesses, 4SC included. If an item sells for more, you make more money.

Highly unlikely. Either way, they are clearly choosing to upload low-res scans to ebay.
The dimensions of the scan of the card in question is 790 x 472 and is only 50 KB. That's tiny. I cropped one of my scans and it only went down to 900 KB! And I have a cheapo scanner.

In the end, yeah, once they make the listing active they chose to upload a low resolution scan. But I think it's because of their process and is not intentional. Over the years I've had a lot of digital outsourcing done and have become somewhat familiar in it. My guess is 4SC has one large image (maybe 100 cards in one image) and then they go and manually crop each one to use? Who knows.
Almost 20,000 submissions and only 65 PSA 10s in a set of 66 cards. That's .3 of 1%.
And skewing that a bit?
#19 - 4 10s and #51 - 3 10s; #43 - 3 10s; #44 - 3 10s.
A total of 25 have 0 10s (38%).
Trust me, there are hundreds of sports cards people are spending that much money on this year that will not be worth what this card is in ten years.
Don't waste your time and fees listing on ebay before getting in touch me by PM or at gregmo32@aol.com !
No excuse to not pull these high value cards out though and give them good scans front and back, but If I were them I would stick to the low res scans for the lower value cards.

they probably didn't know it was high value until it got to the stage in their operation where someone looked it up on VCP before that it was in the stack with the 10,000 other cards just back from PSA
