Ebay buyer changes terms after sale

I had a buyer ask for free S&H on a $13 item he won. The listing clearly listed $2.95 for S&H. No need to add more commentary, just stating the facts.

If you want to save yourself the headache of these types of buyers, please PM me.

Of course I could say no. As a small seller that barely qualifies for the 20% fee discount, I have to make the call if it is worth the hassle.

The best bet is to avoid these buyers going forward.

I'd give it to him, chance at a repeat customer. Years ago I had a buyer ask me if he bought about 20 dollars worth of cards, could he get free shipping if he sent me some free cards. Granted this was prior to buying not after. I said sure. The cards he sent me were mostly junk but some were cards I could get a buck or two for. In the last 3 years he has placed about 50 20 dollar orders with me and each time he has sent me free cards. Funny, on at least one occasion he has purchased a card he has sent me for free and he has also included the odd card that he has purchased from me in his free cards he has sent me.

Bottom line, saying yes to the deal the first time has paid off rather well.

How do you avoid these buyers if they don't ask until after they have won? If you don't want to provide free shipping just say no and move on. If he doesn't pay I am sure there will be someone else buying the cards down the line.

All I can do is block them from future purchases. The rest of you can add him to your BBL and avoid the whole mess. PM me if you want to avoid a future problem.

PMKAY - I know what you're saying, I have potential bidders all the time ask for some type of discount if they buy $X. This is the first time I've had someone ask for free S&H after the item was won. What's to stop him from asking for a 10% discount? If you are a small seller and are lucky enough to get a Top Rated discount, the risk of losing it puts you at the mercy of these types of buyers.
