NEWP: Lysimachus Tetradrachm

I have been looking for an artistic Lysimachus Tetradrachm and passed on a few high technical grade pieces that lacked eye appeal. This one caught my eye as very appealing in spite of the wear and resulting loss of some of the details.

KINGDOM OF THRACE. KING LYSIMACHUS ( LYSIMACHOS ), 305-281 BC. AR Tetradrachm, 29mm, 16.98gr., a lifetime emission from Pergamon, ca. 287-282 BC. Obv. Head of deified Alexander the Great right, with the horn of Amon, dotted border around. Rev. Athena enthroned left, holding a Nike crowning Lysimachus' name, lion head device on shield, crescent in outer left field, cult figure in left field, E monogram in exergue. Thompson 218. NGC Ch. XF* 5/5, 4/5, Fine Style. Gold iridescent highlights on both sides.

I like the gold toning on the obverse. That one earned its "star" label.

Excellent choice! I rate these by the face of Nike on the reverse and yours is very attractive, definitely deserving of the Fine Style designation. I don't mind the slight amount of wear at all.

Pardon a noob question, but how common are non-lifetime issues of Lysimachos coins? I had always assumed that non-lifetime issues were only commonplace for AtG.
