I did it! I've been working on this collection for almost 16 years! A shout out to my Dad's all time favorite baseball player, and mine too. I was never around to see him play, but as a life long fan of the Cleveland Indians he will always be my favorite baseball player!
I did it!

1962 FORD DET.TIGERS ROCKY COLAVITO POSTCARD
Your tatoo and Venezuelan cards are special.
At the end of Rocco's career he pitched in a game! Down 5-1 against his old team Detroit, the Yankees put in Rocky and faced Mickey Stanley who almost homered then he struck out Dick Tracewski(who couldn't?)Hall of Famer Al Kaline ripped a double then Willie Horton hit a ball so hard that Don Wert needed repair on his glove during the half inning. As luck would have it,with two outs and nobody on, the Yankees had a double and a walk then back to back dingers then another walk and back to back singles then lo and behold Rocky was the winner! Thank you Lindy McDaniel !
I always wondered why he was traded so many times and why his career ended so early,I mean sixth in the league in homers with 30 in 1966 then basically nothing. Only 34 years old in 1967 with the Dodgers! I was waiting for 1971 baseball cards of him Drysdale and Sandy Koufax.
0 for 3.

Could you imagine the cost of a PSA 8+ 1971 set if those three were in it? Colavito would have been a HOFer had he made it to '71 and we all know what the other two would have been had they stretched their careers a few more years.
-Very happy where I am at! Extra hobby money is going towards my growing interest in numismatics.
This is awesome. How tough was the last card to find and did you find it raw or already graded?
-Honestly, I got TOTALLY lucky finding this one. As usual, I'd search ebay in the early weekend morning hours and someone had this one for sale in a PSA/DNA slab selling it as just a post card, and I luckily I knew what I was looking at, so I hit the buy it now for $19.99 and done the happy dance ever since!
Amazing accomplishment and a real pleasure to look through your set. Rocky is a very underrated slugger. Are all his Venezuelan issues represented or are there others that could be added to the set composite?
-Not that I am aware, my buddy Steve who will forever be a hero to me of this great collection would know better than I would. I do have one of those '60s records of Rocky Colavito, I don't know if PSA will ever grade?
I grew up in the seventies obsessed with stats from former stars who never got their just due and Rocky along with '30's and '40's slugger Indian Bob Johnson always stood out to me. What great batters!

-That tattoo I bought raw! And sent it in myself. Pretty amazing the find the finest known one and send it in yourself!

-Awesome story, thank you for sharing! I actually have a PSA graded ticket from that double header!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
<< <i>Congrats Jeff. Now sit back and enjoy them! >>
