I don't know VCP but be extremely careful as I've seen brutal 8s and I've seen amazing 8s..I have been looking for a long time and finally paid a premium for a nice one. Id say the range is easy 1500 dollars between the best and worst..just my two cents.

Just one man's opinion (and what's better than to shoot the breeze about cards on a Monday?) but the 1956 Mantle is one card that can look great in grades like 5 and 6. I've owned a 9 and an 8, both high end, and in hand or especially in a wall display, they look the same as the best 5s, 6s, 7s I've seen-- which cost much, much less. Which means more cards. Considering the rising cost of the 8s, it can really pay off to hunt down a strong yet cheaper card. If you find one you'll really have the last laugh on your doppelgänger self who, in some parallel universe, paid 4k+ for the 8. Meanwhile you'll have as nice a card for a fraction of the price, and never have to sweat what they are going for because you spent so little on it. For fun, here are two 6s and an 8. I don't think any one of these cards is $4000+ better than the other two.

I have an 8 and constantly look out for centered lower grades in wb and FB. If I find both i will eventually cash out the 8 in a minute
I didn't pay 4+ for it though thankfully

Thanks for the help. I'm probably selling, not buying. My perception was that they were increasing over the last few months. Looks like it might be a good time to sell. It was also graded before the half points were available, so I may send it in for a review first.
