IS ANYONE GOING TO DO THE COMMEM SUBSETS?

wondercoinwondercoin Posts: 16,968 ✭✭✭✭✭
I just noticed that the (6) Silver Classic Commem subsets are active. Is anyone here going to work on any of these subsets? I am going to put together a Wash Carver & BTW set in addition to the 50 piece set I am working on (slowly). Wondercoin.

Yes- but it'll never be as good as yours! This I know.

I will probably one day do a Texas. Might even one day think about a lower grade 50 coin Type set.

Pat: I am basically doing the WC and BTW sets in MS66 (with an occasion MS67 coin here or there if an opportunity presents iteself. I just traded away that MS67 WC I posted to the boards a while back to get a group of various Commems. for my 50 piece set (basically a grade or two beneath finest known in most cases). I am collecting these sets for fun and have no intention to sell unless the "unknown" happens (kind of like your recent decision as a collector to switch from Kennedys to something else after many, many years). image Wondercoin.

I'll probably eventually do a set. Probably a Texas set, but I've been moving pretty slow for the last month or so and don't see much light to speed up in the near future. Just keeping up with the 50 pc type is tuff... Slowly but surelyimage

  • I'd like to do an Oregon Trail set, as they've always been one of my favorites. The 2nd coin that I ever bought was a '37-D. It has gorgeous rainbow rim toning. I bought it raw, back when there was no PCGS or NGC(or for that matter, MS66!). I had it graded by NGC, years ago, and it now resides in one of their MS66 holders. I have a few others, but unfortunately, most of them are also in NGC holders. Perhaps I should dig them out and see if it's worth tryin' to cross 'em! image

I don't know what my problem is but I'm finding myself looking for the BTW in MS66 with killer toning! These sure take on an attractive appeal with the lusterous toning these CAN be known for.
That'll be one subset, another would be the Oregon. LOVE that design!

BRDude has the coolest looking reverse that I have ever seen on a BTW, reds and greens scattered throughout.

Anyone planning on trying the Pan-Pac subset? image

  • I may register my lone 1938-D Texas. I haven't looked to see if anybody else has registered, but if noone else has, at least I'll be #1 for a bit!

2 Texas sets registered. One is RegistryCoin and I would be willing to bet that Spooly is the other one.

That BTW is cool. I never really gave it much thought til you made such a deal about it Kieth. I may sent it off to get re-holdered as it is in the old style holder and rolls around inside it. My next submissions I think I will send it back in.
