MLB - Short comments about anything to do with the 2015 season.

I thought it was strange that as of right now there are only EIGHT teams out of THIRTY that are above .500

Detroit 6 0
Kansas City 5 0
Atlanta 5 1
Boston 4 1
Cincinnati 4 1
Colorado 4 1
Toronto 4 2
Arizona 3 2

Give it 4 days and Cincinnati will be off of that list. The Reds bullpen is a train wreck!

The revamped Tigers look pretty good offensively so far. It will be interesting to see how the play once the dust settles on the fast start. Relief pitching will be the key to success for them this year.

You have to count the OTL's for those if you count extra innings for baseball. Look at Philly for example: 18 overtime losses! image

Tigers and Royals have a 4 game series starting on April 30th that will pretty much determine the Central Division.

All they need is for the starter to go 8 and let Chapman handle the rest. They sure took care of my Buccos.
  • SOMSOM Posts: 1,555 ✭✭✭
Not to worry, gemmint. Once McCutchen gets healthier, Bucs offense will roll.

But damn! Chapman is otherworldly, I agree.

just about everyone on the Indians team is hurt or destined to be hurt.....they started year with a lot of pitching depth but their starters are one by one being picked off....(see carassco) Brantley hurt, Gomes out six weeks, etc etc.....

Could very well be the year for the Cubs...they look really good...winning games they typically lose, early, but I like it. Also, Puig is the pretender I thought...watch him get demoted to the minors at some point this season.

yeah, that would make a lot of sense. the Dodgers have already abused their fan base enough without televised games (thanks ESPN2 for last night).

now you suggest they demote the dynamic dude who has helped them sell several thousand more season tickets.

sounds about right. Joc is looking better every day.

Orioles doing okay. Not too sure I trust Tommy Hunter, though. Still waiting for Kevin Gausman to get a permanent spot in the rotation. He looks slightly uncomfortable coming out of the pen, maybe believing he has to try blowing 100-mph pitches past everyone. As a starter, I think he'd learn quicker how to pace himself and how to get better at fooling batters, even with the heat.

Yeah, the 1100 plate appearances of superstar-level performance the last two years were a FLUKE. It's the 30 appearances over the last WEEK that are the true indicator of Puig as a player.

    Good grief.

It's Friday... and Theo didn't disappoint! Could be a fun year if we stay healthy and Lester gets on track. I'll be in Cincinnati next weekend to see them and at Wrigley to see them again in a couple months (against the Dodgers).

In my opinion he always had problems but were masked...once the pitchers figured out how to pitch to him, he became an average player that could have decent streaks. He's exciting to watch no question but that flash wont last if he ends up batting under .250 this season, with 20 homers...you watch.

My Brewers are looking like absolute garbage. I don't know why they even bother bringing their bats up to the plate at this point. It's early but each game I'm anticipating a fire sale more and more.

So you are saying pitchers adjusted to him like they adjust to all new players. I say Puig will adjust to the pitchers as he is very young & raw & continue to improve, thus elevating him to superstar status as the Dodgers finally win another World Series! -Nostradamus

Ok, we agree to disagree, but ya, I think I'm spot on..this wasn't the intention of the thread but go ahead and read some stories about what kind of player Puig was in Cuba...Big picture tells me he wont be the superstar everyone might think..but then again, Kris Bryant is 0-2 with 2 strikeouts so far, so what do I know???? haha.

The Giants are very difficult to watch. Giving Peavy a 2/24 million was an absolute waste. Cy Young winner Kluber signs for 5/38.5 while the Giants get taken for a ride. Looks like they could be going for the record of worst year after a World Series win.

I hope Puig falls apart. He plays like an old Dodger named Carl Furillo, wreckless in the field to the point where it cut off his career.

As a Reds fan, I have 2 questions:

Why would Walt Jocketty think it is a good idea to sign Kevin Gregg to a $1.5 million deal?
Why would a Reds' pitcher ever throw Yadier Molina a fastball with the game on the line?
