2013 Exquisite FB Rip - On a good run

I picked up a box of 2013 Exquisite FB when they were on sale at D&A. In my experience Upper Deck loads one box per case, so I stopped buying cases and buy a box here and there like lottery tickets. At 50% off issue price, I could resist. I don't want to get all Blowoutcard forum here, but here is the play by play with some comments:
Card 1 - Ozzie Newsome Base Card - I like the fact that UD adds some retired stars to the sets. I'm not a Browns or Bama fan so I didn't know that Newsome played for Alabama. I wish UP would use better quality pics.

D&A has these on sale for around $280 from time to time. A really good value in my opinion.

Ah, that makes sense. I guess more was required to be said then.
I would possibly sell the redemption as is then.

If this is true, then this is fraud since Beckham is a redemption in 2014 Exquisite as well. Product is being sold with the expectation of pulling a Beckham. If anyone else gets a Beckham redemption or has one in-process, please PM me.

Lol. Welcome to the 21st century. If you think this is bad, check out what is happening with national treasures, but again all this belly aching doesn't matter if you all continue
to open up your wallets. Truth is no company is worried about outstanding redemptions. They are off to sell the next product, your investment is already spent.

I am not saying that this doesn't happen in business today. I am sure it happens all the time. I just think I would be upset if one of my "friends" posted on a public internet forum for all to see that (insert friend's name here who works at company A) basically admitted that their company is lying to their customers. I will bet that my upper level managment friend will not be in that position much longer if someone else at that company reads the post or if word got out at that company.
<< <i>In all seriousness, put the redemption on eBay as a 7 day auction starting maybe Sunday the 26th. NFL draft is the following week. Always a risk with redemptions. Take the profit, which should be significant, and pass the risk on to someone else. >>
That is shady in my opinion.
I seldom jump on the boards, but when my name is being used to start a rumor, I feel inclined to do so. A few things just to set the record straight here:
1. Are we friends? I'm not sure we are. Nor do I ever recall telling anyone that Beckham isn't signing because honestly I haven't heard that.
2. I have shared with customers tired of waiting on his SPA autograph cards that it might be a good idea to request a replacement. We do have a good inventory on collegiate football cards and can likely get a comparable card out pretty easy.
3. Our Athlete Relations Team is working hard on getting these done and have been making progress to that extent. We just heard from his agent yesterday about getting these done and our team is working to get a signing session scheduled during the off-season to complete all his outstanding cards.
Thanks to anyone waiting on Odell's signed cards for your patience. Hopefully it helps hearing this news directly from me instead of one of my "friends."

I applaud Chris and Upper Deck for addressing this issue directly.
Like I mentioned before, I have dealt with Upper Deck redemption issues since 2002, they have always treated me fairly with their offer.

I agree, I love it (if genuine).
Frankly I didn't really care for how he came on right off the bat and tried to poop on the OP's parade with no apologies.
ETA: That was a really good box and here's hoping you get your ODB efficiently, OP
I expected a few negative comments, it is an open message board, however I am glad to see other board members chime in positively.
I'm not sure what I'll do with the redemption. I may take Chris' advice. I pulled a bunch of Trent Richardson redemptions for 2012 Panini products and just started to get them this year after he has become a bust. In 2012 or even early 2013 I could have sold them for decent coin. Now only Bama fans and his mom are going to buy them.
However Beckham is the top WR on the NY Giants. He seems to be one of those players that breaks through and becomes a highlight star. Randy Moss if probably the hottest WR star I've seen, Calvin Johnson got hot for short time, Beckham could be the next guy like that.
there is A) No way Beckham is going to sign and/or UD has no real intention to get this card and a jersey swatch patch together for ODB to sign.
Beckham has been a redemption in all products late in the season that required an on card sig. If Panini and Topps cant get him to sign I doubt that a small company like U D can get him. Basically Chris telling people this deal might require a replacement is just a nice way of saying, we can't get you the autograph of the hottest player in football, but how about someone lesser?
UD was tight lipped on producing other rookie of the year guys after they got famous like Caddilac Wiliams. I expect nothing more from this situation. I hope a day in the future Chris can come on here and prove me wrong.
Walt
Upper Deck gets Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, and Lebron James to sign all the time and they are infinitely more popular that Odell Beckham Jr.
I think Chris, your "friend", is offering an option to people who don't want to wait. To me that is just fair customer service. I wish Panini and Topps did the same thing. Topps only does it after YEARS of waiting and Panini is hit and miss.
<< <i>Panini couldn't get Trent Richardson to sign for 3 years. I got a 2011 Finest Bernard Pierce from Topps late last year. I don't think the size of the company determines who signs. At the end of the day this is easy money for the athlete.

Lol. I don't have any one hundred dollar bills but I do have fifty and twenty dollar bills would you be OK with one of them instead of one one hundred dollar bill? Of course UD is offering
replacemens, it saves them money. OBJ is the most valuable auto in football right now, I don't think they are offering MJ or LeBron in trade. UD is in the business of making money, if that includes never getting expensive OBJ autographs then so be it, they will wait you out, or wait until OBJ becomes "legendary" like Trent Richardson, and then magically they will have them.
I like Chris, but I don't think he will be back, he knows what I say is true.

<< <i>Is it actually true that in 2006, the year the 1989 Upper Deck baseball cards stopped being printed, that Oompah Loompahs stole the printing press machines and moved them to El Salvador and now print more 1989 Upper Deck baseball in a makeshift Willie Wonka factory ? >>
I don't know where you get your information, but you couldn't be more insanely wrong. It was Guatemala.
<< <i>This is usually why I don't post messages on boards because people like to stir the pot and feel they can post nonsense with impunity. I can only tell you what I know; the truth. We are having good dialogue with his agent to get these done in the off-season. He was focused on his game during the year and took some well deserved time off after that. It is my belief he will bang out many of his outstanding redemptions in the coming weeks, but again, those not interested in waiting can exchange. And Walt, please share publicly that I NEVER told you these were not happening as you alleged in your earlier post.
Thanks, >>
We are now 5 months into the off season and UD is no closer to getting this done than they were in January. . Whats worse is that OBJ was at the photo shoot this past week hanging out with tops and Panini. UD has lied through their teeth on this one. They have no intention of getting this done. They spend more time promoting their old products on twitter than they do paying their debts. Maybe they are just going to go the route of Fleer by filing bankruptcy, screw collectors out of what is owed, and then reorganize like nothing happened.
What say you Chris? I'm guessing nothing.
When your auto is 3 letters, I guess anyone can sign for you when you don't feel like doing it. I'll pass.

+2. I'm really wishing we got that Bob update.
As for OBJ - I have two 2014 redemptions with Panini. I was told at the National that he would be signing soon, 4 months later and nothing. I don't think this is an Upper Deck issue, but a OBJ issue.
You should buy up his 2014 autos that exist, they may be the only ones that get made.
