Heavy Weight Champion of the World...got to meet today

His trainer is my neighbor and they had a signing at the local Mall. Got him to sign a old picture of the first heavyweight fight in Alabama. Real nice guy got to play paintball with him a few years ago during the Alabama Aday tournament.

would hate to fight mma with those gloves they have on their hands. i wouldn't be able to turn the ignition key to get away.

I like Wilder. But he won't be Heavyweight Champion until he gets in the ring w/ Wlad. Funny thing is it's the WBC title that he has...and for 95% of that belt's history, it WAS the belt. It's the one they gave Joe Frazier for beating Jimmy Ellis after they stripped Ali of it.

He would need a chainsaw in his corner to beat Wladimir.

Jwall...Wilder went over to Russia last summer and sparred with the Klitscho brothers. According to Wilder's trainer they were very impressed with him. Should be a good fight between some very tall boxers. In person Wilder is nothing like the media is playing him out to be, very quiet and humble.

    Mr. Mint,

Wilder is a talent, no doubt about it. But here is his biggest problem. He was 32-0 before the Striverne fight. He fought every cab driver west of the Mississippi and beat them all in 2, 3 maybe 4-rounds. Bermane Stiverne, a "fringe" contender a best, and I mean fringe just took him the distance in a pretty uneventful fight. Just that slight move up in class troubled him, despite having all that pop in his glove, a significant height advantage and a significant reach advantage. Wilder has been carefully guided against guys don't fight back. We'll guess what? Dr. Steelhammer fights back. Wladdy has world class boxing skills, a world class jab and world class power. Unless Wladdy's chin doesn't hold up, which hasn't been the case for over decade now, Wilder will prod along while being pummeled for 5 or 6 rounds hoping to land a haymaker until he is put away wet.

And as for sparring, I never saw a belt transfer during sparring. Also, no one has ever hit Wilder yet. Wait until Wladdy follows a thudding left jab (that Wilder didn't see coming) with a straight right down the pike! Then what? The only thing Mike Tyson ever said that made sense was, "Everyone has a plan, we'll uh, that is until they get hit."

Joe Louis first said that, not Tyson.

Of course, only Tyson said, "My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable, and I'm just ferocious." LOL..

My bad, I've always heard that credited to Tyson which I have heard him say during many interviews. Nevertheless, that statement is a truism.
