a declared value question

What if you send in a raw card that is in mint to gem condition and put on the sub form say 100 dollars declared value and it des grade out a 9 or 10 which puts the value say over 3000, are you only insured for the 100 value you put down?

  • Yes. You are insured only for the declared value you list. I've had this happen and fortunately haven't had any shipping mishaps coming from psa.

  • Does PSA have a little 'courtesy' service or something if that happens to call and say 'hey buddy, you scored, but you need to pay more return shipping insurance' ? That would be nice.

I remember reading on here one time that a collector had to pay extra fees when a card was graded and was clearly way past the service level maximum value in the grade that was assigned. I believe it was a Jordan PSA 10.

Anyone sending in potentially low population commons from active sets I am sure has had a card that was shipped back with quite a bit less insurance value.
