Much Love for 2015 Leaf Metal Draft Football

I've been buying boxes over the past month and this is by far one of the best football products I have ever opened. The quality of the cards and value per box surpasses anything else from Topps or Panini.

I'm 20 boxes in and have pulled 2 Winstons and 4 Mariota Auto RCs. The rookie class is not only deep this year but come from colleges with strong fan bases, so I've been able to sell extra cards for good coin.

A word of advice, spread out you purchases among different sellers. Each case is guaranteed to have a Mariota and a Winston, I've been buying 4-5 boxes at a time and have hit a lot of great cards.

If you love rookies, autographs, color, and cool inserts, then this is the product for you.

Nice card, can you post some base cards and other inserts. What is the price point?

Yes, Leaf did a good job with the football and hockey Metal releases. I been collecting the hockey and the cards are really cool. Also like how they are packaged in the box.

$89 a box from Dave & Adam's. 4 cards per box, all autographed.

As an aside, I like the idea of that Mariota card but...man, what a terrible photo/crop job they did. How do you cut off the right hand of a right-handed quarterback?

The crop job is a little shaky. However the insert set looks great. Better than what I've seen from the big 2. Box prices have risen, I paid $72-$77 for my boxes. I just broke 4 and pulled a Winston and Mariota. Again spread out your buys. There are only 350 cases out there.

Surprising some of the small school players were the first to sell.

Here is the one of the base cards. All cards are refractors and the autos are on-card. Fort some reason there is a blue tint in the scans but the card itself is silver. For the record, my prediction is that Melvin Gordon will be the top rookie next year.

Cards look great, Congrats on the pulls.
What's an average price on a box?

They came out at $79.95. The lowest price I got was $72. The last 4 I got were at $75. I see them now in the upper $80's. I know SteelCity is out, I bought the last 7 boxes, and BigT has been out for a while. The case run was 350, which means that there were 5250 boxes made. I plan to buy more if I can find them in the $75 range.

None of the local dealers in my area ordered any, they just don't believe in college products. I usually fall in that camp but this is the second Leaf product I bought in quantity and I have done very well (the first was 2014 Leaf Trinity).

I'm not a fan of Leaf Originals or Valiant. I'm not sure about the next two products - Ultimate and Clear. I think the refractors in Metal make it a more popular product.

Here is one of the Superfractors I pulled.

  • Nice set. It's a relief to see something of quality at a fair price. There has been so much wrong with Panini this year, I am staying away from any of their product. Topps had some rough issues also. I am a fan of Leaf Trinity in baseball.

IMHO Topps and Panini can learn something from Leaf. There are so many football products that the Big 2 release that are basically repetitive and have horrible collector value.
