The protocol for posting here seems to have been forgotten, or ignored.

The etiquette for using the FREE space to advertise here involves the simple, informal protocol of SHARING. If everyone here decided to post multiple FOR SALE threads every day, this place would turn into nothing more than a battleground. Please post only ONE For Sale thread for each page of 50 threads.
If you need to offer multiple items, please use or learn how to use the edit function to consolidate your offers in to one thread, or give enough time to allow an existing thread to fall past the 50 thread count per page. I believe I am stating this for the majority here.
If you disagree with me, feel free to share that with Mr. Willis.

The board should be solely for items in hand and for sale.

And post your buy/sell prices in your ad.
no ebay or other auction listing. Just
sell what you have in your possession
and the price you're asking. KISS !!!

eBay material is in the seller's possession.

<< <i>i did not know that ebay listings are not allowed here. is there a list of the rules for the bst? i thought we are allowed to post things for sale as long as we did not post more than one thread a day. >>
There is no such rule. eBay and other auction venue links/promotions are allowed.
It is not "one thread a day" though. It is one bump per day or one thread on the 1st page.

eBay listings are allowed here. CoinDeuce had great intentions pointing out that the ACTUAL BST rules were being broken. Then the thread was hijacked by rules people wanted to see implemented.

Incorrect on the "one thread on the 1st page".
It IS 1 buy thread (including if you bump an older one) AND 1 SELL thread (including if you bump an older one) AND 1 TRADE thread (including if you bump an older one).
Just because there is some activity and you get bumped off the first page does NOT give you the right to go right back and create another one or bump again on the same day.
You ARE correct on the "no rule about ebay or other auction venue" bit.
Though, I know that, personally, I try to remember threads and, if they have been around for awhile, I may not remember the bits inside but I do remember I have seen it for awhile and it must not be something I want....so I don't open them as they get closer to the actual sale date. I think people do themselves a disservice promoting auction too far in advance and too many times. Just my personal thought...I think I have missed out on a few items I would have bid on because of that. Oh well.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
If there isn't a rule for prohibiting ebay and coins in other venues, there should be. I personally don't mind an occasional ad about someone who has coins in a major Heritage sale, but the ebay ads should be banished. Just my two cents...

Why should eBay ads, more so than normal BST ads, be prejudiced? As long as the coins are legitimately for sale, there is no scam, and the poster complies with the one post/one bump per day rule, then I don't see a problem at all. You can always skip over the eBay threads as it is customary to put eBay in the title. It is a buy, sell, and trade forum and all venues should be permitted.
I used to have a problem with Ebay ads, but as long as they are mentioned in the title, and offer them to members here off-Ebay at a discount,
then it's Ok with me, as they are legitmately for sale. And I guess while other folks are mentioning pet peeves, there ought to be a limit on how
often other folks bump threads for member's posts.
This is exactly what the requirement is.
And it's one bump of your own BST listing, whether it be here or eBay, per day.
I'm guilty of doing "make an offer" listings and I don't see anything wrong with that. It's same damn thing as when buyers say, "tell me what you have and what you want for it." Exact same damn thing.
<< <i>Although I can't speak for PCGS, I would imagine the original intent was a venue for collectors to buy and sell coins directly through here, a community of coin collectors with a 'circle of trust' kind of thing. If you subscribe to that notion, that leaves out ebay
I can still sell my coins here even if they are listed on eBay.

OF COURSE you can... unless the powers that be deem otherwise...
I was just expressing an opinion
