OK Football Guys,
Over in the Facebook group "Vintage Football Cards" we're doing something kind of neat this week; We're running a "group break" of a complete, higher grade (raw & graded) 1972 Topps Football card set ... including the elusive 3rd series high numbers. The set has 19 cards already graded PSA 8 (including 3 of the high numbers) and many of the raw cards are sharp and grade worthy too. It's being done through "Snows Vintage Set Breaks" and there was an article written about this break in yesterday's Sports Collectors Daily
There's 351 slots available in the break. You can purchase as many slots as you want (at only $6.99 per slot) and every slot will receive one of the cards, chosen by a random draw (using the random.org program). There are about 120 cards in the 1972 Topps set that have a raw high book value of $7 or more, and many that book for $20, $30, $50, all the way up to $175 and $250 ... so you have a great shot at getting your moneys worth, plus more!
The cards will be randomized on a Live streaming broadcast ... and there will also be a "trading period" immediately after the break, where guys can trade cards, if they want too, prior to them getting mailed out.
Anyway, I'm trying to get the word out to any vintage collectors that might want to participate. We have links posted in our Facebook group, or you can go directly to the webpage (where you can view the cards and purchase slots) at:

If the link doesn't work, the web address is: www.snowsbreaks.com (Go to the "store" tab to purchase slots.)
Good Luck, and Enjoy!

<< <i>Is the set he is breaking your set or consigned to him? Nothing wrong with that, but disclosure of that fact seems to be of importance. >>
The OP is guessing/speculating about the condition of the set, which would indicate it is not his set, but I may be wrong.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
But other than that, I'm not involved in the break, outside of trying to see how many guys might be interested in doing it.
I love the idea behind it. It's actually something I'd thought of doing myself, many years ago. I brought the idea up to the guys in our Facebook group last year, to see if there was any interest. A lot of guys responded positively, but we were still fairly new, and I didn't think we had enough members yet to pull it off ... so I put it on the back burner. That's why I was glad to run across Brian, and see that he was successfully doing it with a vintage baseball set.
If for some reason Brian decides not to do it ... I just finished up a nice looking 1955 Bowman Football set, and I could see if enough guys would be interested in me breaking that one?

Info is in the top post.
<< <i>I bought 10, who else is in? >>
Looks like 59 slots purchased so far, orderable quantity maxed out at 292.
Article in Sports Collectors Daily
After my purchase, there appears to be 78 slots left. Hope it fills up today and we can randomize to provide some Monday entertainment.
56 more to go
The Live break is scheduled for Monday evening. You can find the links on his website or Facebook page.
Enjoy it ... and Good Luck everyone!
Good Luck to everyone!
<< <i>I can't think of a worse first four on the random, but a nice high number saved the day on the fifth Thanks for bringing this break to my attention! >>
Csonka on your first four is pretty solid. Following up with a Butkus but the Willard is AWESOME!
Card #'100-199 are not listed so it was probably more
A pair of low number HOFers in Lance Alworth and Johnny Unitas Pro Action and a pair of high numbers, one being Mike Lucci and the other being John "Nightlife" Niland.
As a Dallas fan, scoring a pair of Cowboys was pretty sweet. Scoring a pair of highs is icing on the cake.
Likely off for grading on arrival as I'm holding a sub waiting on a few more cards. Hopefully I'm reading the list right, as the Niland looks pretty nice and commands solid $.
Saw a lot of familiar names in the break, hope you all did well.

<< <i>I thought this was a higher grade raw / graded set break - why are there so many poorly centered cards? Were scans of all the cards posted before people bought their spots? >>
Scans off all the stars and the high series were posted. If you were to have a 60/40 1972 break in PSA 6.5-7.5 raw average you would have to nearly double the cost. This was a great buy at the right price. Rumor has it his next break is going to be a '58 set. Time to set some coinage aside for that one.

The draw, for me at least, was the high numbers. It was apparent from the scans provided that centering was off on many, but the price accounted for that as well.
