You folks might find this interesting.
An Ebay dealer has listed now (among other rare Swiss coins) a nearly uncirculated copy of the very rare 1857 Swiss 2 franc. But the coin has several differences from a genuine example (like the one sold by Sincona in the Top of Switzerland auction recently): the design of the numeral "2" in "2 Fr." is the 1850 style, and the name of the die master is wrong. I ran the coin by two dealers in Switzerland and both have stated it is definitely a fake.
My Internet skills prevent me from creating a link to the Ebay listing; perhaps some generous soul will help me out here. The dealer started the coin at $95 (which is by itself informative) and there is one bid as of now; he also doesn't accept returns, as "I am not a coin Dealer !!,nor to I know how to great coins."
It might be interesting to buy this coin for a counterfeit reference piece. And, unfortunately, it would be the closest I ever get to a real 1857 2 franc!!
