Psa holder thickness question

Was at a card show today and held a couple psa graded cards where the flip was definitely thinner than what I was used to. The serial numbers also started with 600 and I think one with 500. Are these just different flips they used for a while? All mine are the same thickness regardless of style. The cards weren't anything too expensive, maybe $15-40 and seemed graded accurately. Tried to search on this topic and didn't come up with anything.

Yes, there are a couple different styles of holders that vary slightly in thickness.

The new holder is thicker. For a long time it was noted here:

PSA Supplies

that updated boxes would be released - I guess they have been, because it doesn't say anything now. I have an older blue plastic box and the new holders don't fit.

Around the edges the new slabs are definitely thicker -- taking up more storage space.

However, IMO, the core of the new slab is thinner.

Maybe what the OP is referencing.
