Well I just spoke to 2 eBay Customer Service Reps, 1 eBay Customer Service Manager, 1 Paypal Customer Service Rep, 1 Paypal Customer Service Manager after getting hit for a 6.4% currency conversion rate up-charge on a international purchase. eBay has outsourced their customer service department which made the 2 back to back conference calls between myself and the paypal folks a total nightmare as none of the 3 eBay reps comprehended enough of the English language to figure out what occurred. Paypal finally decided just to credit me for taking up so much of my time.

I know everyone is tired of eBay threads, but just so you know if you now need to contact their customer service department for some sort of resolution your going to be in for real surprise.

They have customer service? Well you got back $7.69/hour so you are over minimum wage. In Alabama. Or unless you wait tables.

Yes if you pester paypal or ebay enough, they usually will side with you if you are in the right.

It wasn't a matter of the monetary amount but the principle as the standard currency conversion rate is 2.5%. This is a blind charge which isn't shown in your ebay nor paypal statements. I didn't notice the difference in amount until I glanced at my paypal summary. Ebay CS now in Asia kept telling my to contact the seller and one rep stated that maybe to build a business relationship the seller might on his own offer me a partial refund. I didn't realize how long the call was until I saw the time stamp on the phone when I hung up. I might have been abducted by aliens for an hour as it just didn't feel like it was over 2 hours.

Yep, for sure I've missed out on being scammed, headaches, shipping issues, chargebacks, etc, etc ......
For what I collect there is no "slipped through the cracks" on Ebay.

It's like a twilight zone episode as during the conference call even the paypal rep got frustrated.

Next time I'm just mailing out a USPS Pink International Money Order as for $4.50 it's far less then any conversion rate.

I have well over 5000 transactions on ebay and have NEVER been scammed.

I get awesome deals almost daily on ebay.
