Strange story - got negged on ebay but got it reversed

A few weeks ago I sold a $7 card on ebay. 20 minutes after payment was received, I got an email from ebay/paypal saying not to ship the item as they were investigating the buyer for fraud and that the investigation would take 7 days. I let the buyer know and he responded with "I paid with Visa gift card so it's all good go ahead and ship the card". I didn't and 7 days later I got a note from ebay saying that investigation was closed and that payment was reversed and not to ship the item.

Fine, figured that was end of story.

Last night I got negative feedback from this buyer. I got it reversed but it took me 45 minutes on the phone with ebay.

I don't know. His feedback was in the 1500 range. Maybe my phone call this morning got him suspended?

Good for you! Never give up!

I got my first negative a few months ago when a guy bought a Giants pin from me then wanted every pin in the picture(clearly described in title that auction was only for ONE pin. I sometimes put more than one item in a picture to maybe boost sales. Called eBay first time and said they were within their rights to neg me. Called again and mentioned what a big can of worms they were opening if buyers could neg sellers that have more than one item in their picture even if clearly described as only one is up for auction. Could you imagine that! Got negative reversed and now only put what I am selling in picture.
Watch out if you list with multiple items in picture!

This exact same thing happened to me a few years ago.

I have an odd ebay story too. I listed an item with a starting bid of $5. I figured it might sell for $30 or so. It ended up selling for $70. A few hours after the auction ended, the winning bidder sent me a message that said "I am not going to pay for this. I was bidding on a $5 item. You can relist it. I already have one in a different color." [His bidding history confirms that he did win the same item in a different color.] I figured it wouldn't do any good, so I didn't even bother to respond. Why is this person bidding $70+ on what he feels is a "$5 item"? The next morning he paid via Paypal without any explanation.

Thanks for posting this. I've contacted all the other sellers he has negged and explained to them that a phone call will get the feedback removed.
