Had a nice day getting stuff authenticated by JSA today at Beckett in Dallas, went 6 for 6 like usual (Ruth had already been authenticated, I was just getting it graded). PSA, when are y'all coming here with your slab machine??
Landed a Gem Mint 10 on my Ruth
Also got a couple nice Mickey Mantles authenticated. First up, a 1953ish or so signature:
Next is a neat Mantle where he printed his address for a photographer to send him some photos that Mantle liked, it's from 1977:
Next up is a fantastic Cobb letter written on several of his personal note cards. Shows an intensely personal side of the Peach. This one is getting a full letter instead of a slab because it's multiple pieces.
"I am going to ward off with God's help the "bow out" or final curtain as long as possible." Even the great Ty Cobb recognized his own mortality.
The other two items I got slabbed are a couple of George W. Bush pieces that were too large for my scanner.

Those are some nice items. I remember when you showed them raw.
Just curious - How do they authenticate that PRINTED MICK name and addy?

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Thanks Doug,
Jimmy has an insane collection of exemplar images for Mickey. He keeps them organized on his PC and has them separated by year in the file name from what I've seen. I'm not easily impressed but his exemplar collection for Mantles is quite impressive. He's a pretty laid back, nice guy and he used to do some "authentication" seminars when he would come to Beckett in Dallas and show us his exemplars and his organization. I'm quite sure he had exemplars of Mantle's printed style from where he would fill out official documents.

The Mantle addy is novel - not sure if I've seen it before.
Your collection is incredible!
<< <i>Congratulations on the perfect 10 Mike.

Thanks Mike. There was a sweet Babe Ruth signed baseball that I saw walk in the door too. Right on the sweet spot, nice stuff. I love going up there to hang out and talk hobby with people that come in. Got to go to lunch with one of my friends from another board that has an insane signed rookie card collection. He has purchased all the tough ones I had over the last couple of years and has stuff that I only dreamt of having when I was doing signed rookies. We had good Mexican food too.
And as a night cap, the Irish just made the Sweet Sixteen. Great day

<< <i>What's the size of the first Ruth photo Mike? Beautiful signature that just pops with that white background. Thanks for showing them. Doug >>
Thanks, it's an 8 x 10.
